Rogers had a 2-0 lead on first 4 shots then bad backchecking by rogers caused a short handed goal for Jefferson. Jefferson's goalie had the first penalty if I recall right. Rogers lost their cool and went after the goalie which caused both teams to get penalty after penalty for the first period. It was fine the second period and most of the third until the end Rogers got a penalty with less than 2 minutes and they had their goalie pulled. Congrats to Jefferson to making VFW state.

Eagan vs refs
Thank you for clarifying. I was not at AV game, so sounds like its more on the refs to keep control.Glovesreallysmell wrote:I went to the game today to check out AV and just to set the record straight the refs were terrible and did miss several serious calls. I would disagree with the previous comment assuming anything about the Eagan team. Looked liked a good bunch off hard working boys trying to win a chance to move on. Ref's just needed to make the right calls early.

Re: Eagan vs refs
I am new to this forum but not new to AV hockey or Eagan hockey. I actually live on the border of both cities and am a fan of both teams and have no ties to either team, just like good hockey. I have seen all games between AV/Eagan this year and yesterdays game was no different than the others. Both teams played well and I didn't see the hits from behind these people are talking about. I was actually right next to the hit where the AV guy got hurt. Here's the problem the kid had that nobody is talking about. Both the AV and Eagan player were going for the puck and unfortunately for the AV guy he was near the boards but not against them. The Eagan player did give him a big hit, I will admit that but I didn't think it was from behind, it was from the side. The reason he got hurt was because he had room between him and the boards and when he was hit went into them really hard. It was scary but to stick up for the Eagan guy he was just playing passionate hockey and not intending for the kid to get hurt like he did. Let's remember something folks, the game of hockey is a violent sport. If you don't want your kid to have a chance of getting hurt buy him/her a set of golf clubs or a pair of running shoes. As far as the other comments about Eagan being a cheap team or whatever people are saying, I've followed them and AV all year and neither team is cheap. They are very even in talent but AV has a better goalie. Unfortunately parents just get too emotional when it comes to the hockey and always seem to have to blame someone, not just except the fact that its hockey and players get hurt. Good luck to AV at state. I will be watching.bobforhockey wrote:Thank you for clarifying. Isn't that called boarding?? Turns out, it is still a penalty...malicious intent or not.playerplayer1 wrote:I am new to this forum but not new to AV hockey or Eagan hockey. Re: Eagan vs refs
Boarding in ice hockey is a penalty called when an offending player violently pushes an opposing player into the boards of the hockey rink, when the player is facing the board OK, I'm not here to battle like most of you parents are. I am not a parent, I am a fan. But here is the definition of boarding, and if it was boarding why did his back hit into the boards and end up with a bruised lower back. Oh yeah, because it was a clean check! I'm rooting for AV in the state but can't stand people who complain about good hits just because a kid gets hurt!Titan2020 wrote:Isn't that called boarding?? OK - #1 - player does not have to be facing the board...that would be checking from behind. #2 Your initial description indicates there was room between the player and the boards - this typically leads to a "Boarding" penalty. Just merely pointing out YOUR description in my initial post. I was not at the game.
