I don't have to assume anything. I have a map and I know it costs more to travel to the locations that play winter AAA than it does to drive our current opponents locations. I know the farther I have to drive, the more likely chance that my family will need a hotel and meals. Oh, and my wife and I have jobs and limited vacation days, I can make a Friday evening game in our current league pretty easy, probably not going to make a Friday evening AAA game without some time off. I like my kids in school learning, not reading a book in the backseat and taking make-up tests. I know that an association winter tournament costs $450 - $1,200 and a AAA tournament usually starts at $1,000 or higher.

But like you said, each families experience has different costs. From my perspective, association hockey is MUCH, MUCH cheaper than our AAA experience.

Brent thanks for your outstate personal motives. Let's ruin it for those who wish to play the best teams. By the way AAA summer is not the same level as winter Tier 1.

Never said it was the same, maybe you should remind others that post here that their summer AAA is not the same as Tier 1.

I love how I bring out the best in you! XO

I was just allot confused as to what you meant by winter AAA

Winter Tier 1 is what they call it...

You know what, I think I am coming around to the Minnesota Tier 1 idea as long as the best players play and those teams only play the best teams. It could bring a little more parity for the outstate teams and the metro teams as I expect that the teams would be heavily made up of metro area players with a few outstate players mixed in. The Tier 1 teams might only take 1 or 2 players off the various A teams but might be just enough edge to take away from Edina or Wayzata.

This will work for the first year or two then the disfunction and disenchanted still in the asscociations will kick in and new, lower quality clubs/teams will spring up but these will be made up of lower A, B1 and an occasional B2 player. Then the cycle will start all over that we, now USA Hockey, needs to establish a new level for the truly elite players because Tier 1 is so watered down with mediocrity.

has this thread got off topic or is it just me?? Great expierence with spring/summer AAA experience...will do it again (if kids make the team) Every program is different, some are into playing tourny's/games and others are more into the skill developement. We choose the latter
