First, sorry I am a little late tonight, but from my end it was worth it.
Second, don't worry about sinbin who missed the deadline. We've communicated via private messages and he's playing this week just for fun.
Here's tonight's update:
Grand Rapids/Greenway 1, Andover 3
Mikayla Goodin and Abbie Turpin each recorded a goal and an assist in leading Andover past Grand Rapids/Greenway at the Andover Community Center. In goal Maddie Rooney had 22 saves on 23 shots for the win.
The story here is that of the 26 contestants who picked the Huskies to win, there were NINE who also predicted the 3-1 score - and TEN if you count the mythical CW. I've been telling all my friends how this is the most knowledgeable prognosticator group in the history of the girls high school forum, and this is just further proof of that!
The nine getting it right were Misterright (naturally!), clutterbucket, Silent But Deadly, 36Guy, ERhockeydad, FlyingWarrior, FishEye, RailingWizardofOZ and MNHockeyFan
.
Totino-Grace 0, Breck 3
Grace Zumwinkle' goal and assist led Breck to a 3-0 win over Totino-Grace in a Class A private school matchup at the Breck School Anderson Ice Arena in Golden Valley. Also scoring for the Mustangs were Claire Mancheski and Kendall Williamson. Totino-Grace had a slight 30-26 edge in shots on goal, but Breck's Jenna Brenneman stopped all 30 of them for the shutout win.
In this one 23 of 31 picked the winner, but nobody thought Totino-Grace would be held scoreless...so no extra points awarded.
Here's the Leaderboard heading into tomorrow's busy seven game schedule:
1. capitalpride - 8 points
AAA Dad – 8

Where is the love for AAA Dad getting the 3-1 score correct as well??MNHockeyFan wrote:First, sorry I am a little late tonight, but from my end it was worth it.

Sorry AAA Dad for the oversight. I actually did give you the extra point for the score, but erred in my post by giving the mention to ERhockeydad, who is right next to you (vertically) in my spreadsheet. So both of your point totals for that game and in total are correct, but my post should have mentioned you instead of him.AAA Dad wrote:Where is the love for AAA Dad getting the 3-1 score correct as well??

Too many games and not enough time today to add game stories and player stats, so just scores and contest notes are included!
St. Cloud 1, Roseau 2
A healthy majority - 24 of 31 - picked the Rams over the IceBreakers but there was only one – clutterbucket – to also get the score right. With the bonus, clutterbucket moves up to 8 points, but all five who were tied for first as of last night add a point to move to 9 points.
This will be my last update until late this evening, as I’m heading out the door for the Xcel Arena –
Go Gophers!

Sorry I'm late! With the snow the traffic was terrible driving home, lots of accidents too. Then I started entering scores, and my computer crashed! At least my Gopher team won the trophy, even though it took some great goaltending and a shootout to do it. Officially, it will go down as a 4-4 overtime tie. Great game! Plus our women's team swept St. Cloud - yeah!
Final scores from earlier this evening:
Buffalo 2, Wayzata 3
29 of 31 picked the 7th ranked Trojans over the 19th ranked Bison. Antagonist was the only one to guess the 3-2 score, as most had Wayzata winning by two or three goals. The average predicted score (CW) was 3.90 to 1.71.
Hill-Murray 3, Benilde-St. Margaret's 2
An upset according to our panel, which favored the No. 2AA ranked Red Knights by a substantial 23-7-1 margin. Of the 7 who picked the Pioneers, 3 of them got the score right: 36Guy, capitalpride and mrleft.
St. Paul United 1, Blake 10
Everyone but two gets a point, but nobody came close to getting this very lopsided score correct.
Eden Prairie 3, Edina 1
A pretty big upset with only 11 of 31 having picked the Eagles to win. Surprisingly, none of the 11 predicted a 3-1 score.
Achiever Academy 0, Dodge County 1
Our group was very evenly divided here, with a very slight minority (14-16-1) predicting a Dodge County win. Most were expecting a battle between two high-powered offenses, but it was the defense and goaltending that prevailed.
Hopkins 1, Minnetonka 0
Another close, low scoring battle between two evenly matched teams. And another slight upset, at least according to our group. Just 12 of 31 had Hopkins winning, with 3 saying the teams would play to a tie. This time there was one correct score, that being by mrleft who correctly said 1-0 Hopkins.
That concludes our second-to-last 2013-14 weekly contest. A big congrats to capitalpride, who finishes all alone in 1st place for Week 12:
1. capitalpride - 14 points
2. Maverick2000 – 13 (HUGE last day, going from a tie for 14th to a tie for 2nd!)
D6 Girls Fan – 13
4. clutterbucket - 12
Silent But Deadly – 12

(CW also with 10)
24. FlyingWarrior - 9
spars46 - 9
26. Misterright - 8
27. Four with 7
31. One with 5
Again, congrats to capitalpride on taking Week 12, and also to Maverick2000 and D6 Girls Fan for their strong runner-up finishes.
Now, everybody get busy on Week 13+, our Grand Finale for the regular season.
