after 2 periods the score is knotted at 2
Shots on goal in favor of STA 19-18

Eagan controlled more of the play this period. They are really throwing there weight around and I think that is getting in the Cadets heads a little bit, especially if Wolff is on the ice. The start of the period was all Eagan but then they took a penalty and gave up another powerplay goal.
After that it was pretty even till Eagan got there own powerplay and scored. They finished off the period with a slight advantage I think in play and with a goal in the final minute.
Should be a great 3rd

I really thought STA would win this game. But I'm really happy for Eagan. They earned it all year and were just steady, solid, good.

STA goes home, maybe questioning the jump a little? Big leagues too much? Not a rip, not trying to instigate. I would actually like to hear a Cadet perspective on the first experience in AA.

Good luck to Eagan at State

Are you kidding? They just lost by one (plus an ENG) in the section final.

4-2 Final
Shots in favor of Eagan 26-25

The 3rd I thought was similar in play in terms that Eagan controlled most of it. They came out strong and put one in early and played shut down defense like there known to do. In the end I think STA struggled with puck possession for the second half of this game and that cost them along with 4 unanswered goals. There best chance in this period, like the rest of the game was on the Powerplay, Novak hit pipe that Pete Waggnnor was sure that went in and then right after Broetzman was robbed by a nice glove save.
Eagan was not quite as physical in the 3rd but it was still present. There physicality and tough D is tough to match and they are very deserving of this win tonight.
I think they can make some noise at state.

Last four years:

State Championship
State Championship
State Championship
Nearly lost in semis, lose by two in finals of sections

Of course I'm serious.

As a non-hockey playing Cadet, I will tell you what I think. This is just my opinion alone.

The 2013 team was probably the best team we've fielded in years. I feel they could have won the AA tournament last year.

However, the jump to AA is tricky. There is a double standard for us. If we win, private school dominance has gone too far, but if we lose then we "shouldn't have made the jump", even after everybody called for it. So it's a tricky situation. We can win another state tournament at the A level, or battle our way through AA to a section runner-up.

It will be interesting to see much of anything from STA next year. Rumors float that Novak and Versich may go to pursue junior hockey. I do know the JV team was very sophomore and freshmen heavy, so we shall see where that gets them next year, should they lose Novak and Versich.

Benilde and Hill already win it all, and we that hate privates just have to deal with it. There is zero way you should be in class A. You'll be competitive every year, and a lot of us are from AA schools that would kill to be in that position.

I'm not saying we should be in class A at all. I do agree we belong in AA, but it would be naive to say that a double standard doesn't exist.

You forgot that it's not a double standard, Cadet16, it's a triple standard: the two you listed and the third..."there will be those that hate ya no matter what!"
