I agree with this!! (but find a little irony SATS is now saying in this, because I pointed this out several months ago in a debate with you on the Mr Hockey thread, when we were comparing Justins lifetime scoring stats with the other most potent offensive players in recent Metro history!)
BTW, I also agree with your comment:
" That loss may have been the best thing for HS hockey in MN for the following season, because that was likely the biggest reason Kloos chose to come back and play his SR year...to get to the X with his group. Pretty cool"
In my opinion the 2012 tourney was one of the greatest of tournaments Ive attended, ranking up there with Duluth East /AV , Duluth East/EP, and Tonka/Hill, etc. Because a very rare event happened: ALL FOUR qtrfinal underdogs WON! . (and this is coming from a Hounds alum, who has had to swallow many bitter pills)
Justin was one of the greatest, no doubt. And he has excelled since he left high school. Best wishes to a good developing LS program, hope they can resolve any issues and hang on to their top talent, may see them hanging around the Section 1 finals in a year or two?

My failing memory seems to remember that Charlie Lindgren stood on his head...... and Justin Kloos was on the ice very other shift. By the third period and into overtime, he had nothing left and was still out there every other shift. I am not sure Just was ill that evening...... he was just totally exhausted....... South had a great team that year but don't forget that 3 North kids from that team (Charlie Lindgren, Blake Winneke, and Evan Peterson) are all playing D1 hockey right now.......

I never denied that he didn't get lots of ice time. What I pointed out at the time and will continue to point out is that he continually produced offensively unlike any other player in recent history despite being a marked man by every team.WestMetro wrote:SATS said:

He was very sick. In fact, Grant Potulny was there that night to offer him a scholarship, but was hesitant because of how he played. Held off a little longer and then offered a bit later. Gophers are lucky they offered when they did, otherwise he would have been elsewhere im sure, as they certainly werent only schools courting him.nahc wrote:My failing memory seems to remember that Charlie Lindgren stood on his head...... and Justin Kloos was on the ice very other shift. It wasn't Lindgren that stole that game, North out played South and was very physical. That took South out of their game as they tried to be physical back and it didn't work, that happens in crosstown games more often than other games I think.
I was at the game, shots after 3 periods were about 45-13 if I recall correctly. By overtime the south guys were gassed and North was all over them. South was lucky to make it to the 2nd OT. FWIW, Kloos broke loose late in the third and had Lindgren at his mercy and clanked a post...turned to my brother and said that was their chance!

I would have to agree. Talking to a few North players after the game, their game plan was to hit South, especially South's top players. My former coach use to say good indicators when a team is wearing down are entering a faceoff circle late, laboring coming off the beach, and hands on their knees before the buck is dropped. South had all these traits.keepyourheadup wrote:It wasn't Lindgren that stole that game, North out played South and was very physical.
