This past weekend the lllinois state champ was crowned in front of 4,800 people in Chicago's caverness United Center. Illinois HS hockey is what makes me proud to be a former player, coach, and current fan of Minnesota HS hockey. It's true that many people, including myself, posting on this board are one or a combination of the following; too sensitive, too uninformed, too immature, too serious, too drinky, too young, too old, too mean, too stubborn, too quick to make a joke, too busy writing when they should be reading, too trapped in the past, too into themselves, too hung up on private vs. public, or too in love with one school or section to recognize reality. However, what I believe and what all these people have in common is first, a passion for hockey, and second, an understaning that Minnesota HS hockey is bigger than any one person, team, school, or coach. Over the years, players, teams, coaches, equipment, section alignments, rinks, one class hockey, state tourny venues, and dynasties have come and gone, however, the entity of MN HS hockey is as good now as it has ever been, well.... at least for me. On behalf of all of those who have migrated to lands outside the State of Hockey and must now live our passion through those still close to it, thank you and keep posting.

Let me be the first to nominate that post for "Best of the Year". Great job of reminding us why we all love the game so much. I'd travel 60 miles in a snowstorm to watch two #130-ranked Mn HS hockey teams play before I'd turn on the TV to watch basketball. We have a great thing going here in our own backyards across the State. Be good to it, and it will keep getting even better.

The games are fun but discussing the game(s) at Minnhock is more fun than it is discussing the game at the game especially if you're standing with parents of players on the teams during play! I 'think' this thread is kinda a nice little chat. 'think' equates to expression of opinion. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/alien.gif ALT="0]"> But I like this place. The good, the bad and the ugly <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/alien.gif ALT="0]"> . Occassionally I get some 'real ugly' email, but when you are in a position that some label important, it goes with the job. My one complaint would be people that speak opinion based on lack of knowledge (their own agenda). But getting information on scores, players, coaches that you just cannot find anywhere else is a good thing. And like the slapper says, it is a nice place to talk about teams without someone standing behind you. And it helps in making friends that stand behind you when you are in a dive like reidys and some lug wnats to open your head. So thanks friends, no I guess it was the other way around.

At that time Minnhock was a great place to express ones involvement with the great game of hockey and High School Hockey in Minnesota in particular. I had the slowest computer in the US and it took anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour and a half to post a comment in my case! We were commenting on the best players in Minnesota history and hockey for recess at school and telling stories of high school legends gone by. There were many informative posts regarding hockey and the stories reflecting the posters "respect" for the game seemed plentiful! And then petey1321 showed up on my radar just as I was installing my very first thread which was essentially an observation of mine that in the town I grew up playing in, if all the Catholics that played hockey went to the Catholic School the Public High School in our town wouldn't have stood a chance! The next thing I knew, while sailing about these waters on my little Minnhock Ship, I was abruptly bombarded by Vide<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/pimp.gif ALT=":hat"> Scout and petey1321 (aka sweety petey <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/laugh.gif ALT=":lol"> ) and a few of his seemingly many pals, and the whole Minnhock World, as it appeared to me was turned upside down !<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/devil.gif ALT=":evil"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/sick.gif ALT=":x"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/devil.gif ALT=":evil"> Suddenly I was a Nazi and Gengis Khan and Adolf Hitler and Stalin and Bush and Clinton and Attila the Hunn and "idiotic and laughable" and disdain spewed forth from the opposition like a Gulf Coast Hurricane and that's when I realized that this place was gonna be more fun than my high school teams locker room was in '69 and me and my team mates had a ton of fun before those games in '69 let me tell ya! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/grin.gif ALT=" >D"> Those exchanges were great in the earlier days of Minnhock until the idea of deleting and editing and banning posters came to be a reality! It takes all kinds to play the game and it takes all kinds to be fans of the game and the idea that some posters are so intollerable that they need to be banned somehow seemed so "unhockeylike" to me!
