If the Hounds defense has too many break downs then the Huskies could make it really scary!! Then again a year ago every one thought Andover had a chance because of Maddie Rooney. But the offense could not score!! Definetaly a trap game for East!!
NO chance in this happening. Talent aside when your East you get Three Home Games in Sections, can't get any easier than that.
Oh wait, maybe Hermantown gets the award for easiest ride to State, Three home games in the JV tournament = another State appearance.
Its all road games for the Hounds in section playoff. What are you talking about?
The first period of the East-Tonka game was actually pretty even; Tonka was just opportunistic, while East wasted a couple of quality chances. Then the major penalties came in bunches, and by the middle of the second, the wheels had fallen completely off the Greyhound bus. Randolph was watching Omaha tonight, so the players are lucky the didn't have to deal with him on the bus ride home...or maybe this just goes to show what he does to keep a lid on things. Some of the penalties were the downright embarrassing things you don't usually see out of Duluth East hockey. I've seen enough East games over the years to have witnessed some ugly losses, but this one was as perfect a blend of sloppiness, dumbness, and general misery.
As an East fan, you hope it's the sort of game they just laugh off and move on from. It's been a strange regular season, in some ways even stranger than last year. This team is capable of some wild swings, and I've never been this uncertain about an East team (whether I have positive or negative vibes) before the playoffs. I have no idea what we're in for this coming week.
Credit Tonka for jumping on their chances and taking the Hounds apart. They will be the 1-seed in 2AA, and they've earned it.

Elks make it this yr...can live with the Indians going. DE very tough at home, but someone else has to make it one of these years. Love to see Hermantown in the section instead of the Elks but they would probably drop down a class if there was a lower one.

LOL. LMFAO That is awesomely funny! Well done Chief....
All the top seeds advance. GR and Elk River move on after lopsided victories of 10-2 and 7-0. East and Cloquet squeak by with 2-1 scores.
Shots were 52-8 for GR. Energy, effort and execution were top notch as one might expect. Adams and Mattson hat tricks. Mattson 8pt night. Areas of concern: taking penalties and the PP. Oddly enough officially no Rapids goals scored were on the PP although one was scored a couple seconds after it expired. They looked a little bottled up on the power play vs having the whole ice sheet to work.
East vs Elk River Sat at noon, Amsoil Arena.
GR vs Cloquet at 2pm, Amsoil Arena.

Any updates on peterson from East?
2-1 East - shots big time in East favor, but only a one goal game

Also didn't see Blake M. On the sheet?
Both played and played together. Bischoff had a couple great chances but didn't quite connect. Blake played hard all night just didn't find the score sheet. This line generated numerous chances and lots of zone time but the top line stole the show.
