Rankings this early in the season when some teams have only played a couple of games is a "Moo Point" - like a cow's opinion, it doesn't matter.

Elk River is a really good team with some talent - if you look at the teams they've played recently I don't believe any of them are rated.

Minneapolis Novas 2 Breck 2 in OT

Great game. Novas leading with 2 minutes left. Breck scores a short-handed goal to tie it up in the third period. No scoring in OT.

Roseville 3 Woodbury 2 OT Final

Woodbury led 2-1 with 10:42 to go in the third. Woodbury is a young and much improved team. Klatt was very good in goal.

Minnetonka is a much improved team and came out very fired up last night. They were able to score two early goals. neither of which was very pretty but they went in. Throughout the game their defense was very effective in keeping the puck away from in front of their net, and for the most part were able to keep BSM's forwards to the outside. The forwards also came back hard on the backcheck to support the D when BSM tried to pass out front. Minnetonka also blocked quite a few shots from the point, especially when BSM had their power play opportunities.

For the second time in three games, BSM came out very flat and had a hard time getting organized. They continued to play uninspired hockey until the 3rd period, when they finally starting skating and passing better. They got their goal 8 seconds into the 3rd, and went on to outshoot Minnetonka 12-3 in the period, but Minnetonka's goalie was able to shut the door and prevent any further damage.

The backbreaker for BSM and probably the turning point of the game was Minnetonka's 3rd goal, which came off a faceoff with just seconds remaining in the 2nd period. Credit too should be given to Minnetonka's fans, which cheered loudly and gave their team a lot of support throughout the game.

The game was very close through the first 2 periods and early into the 3rd period. Edina's depth and excellent goaltending by Allison Casey thwarted an outstanding effort by Lauren Smith who seemed to be on the ice 90% of the time. The roof caved in on AHA in the third period as Edina scored 3 goals to put it out of reach.

I'm glad to see HA had the type of competition they should be playing against. If any team can shut down number 16, they have the chance to win. In the 9-2 win against Shakopee she was still on the ice 90% of the time when the score was 7-2, guess she needed more points which is sad. Some of the HA parents were embarrassed she was still out there at that point. Not to say she isn't a good player but her points come against teams with little depth in the Missota conference.

What were the shots in this game? Scoring chances?

A score like that will definately cause another shift at the top of the rankings. Edina vs. Hopkins tomorrow should be a great test for each team too. Given their strong schedule, I would move the Hornets past EP into the #2 slot until someone knocks them off.

Shots were pretty even HA 24 edina 25. It was all about the saves the goalie made although not sure about the quality of shots.

I didn't count the scoring opportunities but after Edina got two early first period goals HA seemed to step it up and had many good opportunities in the first 2 periods. Each team had good opportunities but Edina capitalized theirs and Casey nuetralized HA's opportunities. HA was a dramatically different team without Smith on the ice.
