It did.
Look for a huge write-up about it in every hockey publication.
Some are saying it's the best, brightest, sun you'll ever see.
No one's ever seen anything like it before, or ever will again.

I'm sure we will get some pictures when the Red Coats return from hibernation. We just have to keep the thread going long enough for them to see it. August maybe??

There was some talk that New Ulm's had several beautiful sunrises, a bunch in a row, even. Certainly enough to gather some respect, you'd think.
Hutch had one a while back, I hear LDC did this morning, after a long dark spell.
Heck, even lowly Marshall snuck one in there. That one's still being argued, but trust me, it did happen. The sun does rise in other places, without all the fanfare.

Word out of my local brewery is that they have tripled the order of Schells light at the Luverne local watering hole with the news of the Red Army's defeat. Some have drawn comparisons to 1980 at Lake Placid..

Did the sun shine in Chicago after NLCS game 6 in 2003? It is trying to shine tonight here in Duluth. Maybe there will be a full moon in Grand Rapids tonight when the T-Hawks suffer another heartbreaker to East?

The last rumor I heard was a metro high school.

His Dad just took an asst professorship position at BSU. But the Marvin Window board of director position is still open and Bruce P has that spare bedroom.

Heard he put some apps in around New Ulm. Word is NUSE has a little better luck in section championships.

All joking aside I hope he returns next year.

Always want a kid to play through his senior year but if the NTDP comes calling he would be a fool to pass it up. It's a great opportunity.

Not from 3A but have seen him play Elite a couple years and it really doesn't seem like it would be in his best (hockey) interests to stay there. If Luverne had a great chance at a tourney title maybe. No way. Not sure I see them even getting back to the X even as weak as the section is unless they learn how to win a game where they are challenged at all. He will not be challenged as a player or improve as fast as he would playing somewhere else. That being said I can't believe he would go to a different HIGH SCHOOL. I would guess a dev. program. I am sure the Gopher staff will have some input.

I had heard his family was a big fan of STREMCHA. Keep a close eye out this summer for the move.

I hate seeing kids leave early and am all for MNHS hockey, but what more does he have to prove? He was 3rd in scoring as a freshman and handily led the state as a sophomore. He's shown that theres nothing more that Luvernes schedule can offer him. Does he come back and go for 200 points next season?

Hopefully Ann Arbor gives him a good long look or maybe Shattuck. I'd really like to see him turn into a stud for the gophers :)

Get over Luverne already. They lost. Lets talk about LDC the section 3 winner not the runner up.

Absolutely.
There's only one team still playing and its a pretty good one.
Tough kids, a good coach, some skill, some size, some speed.
Excited to see them get a dance on the big stage.
Haugo is a player on D.
Raisanen is a long fast forward with scoring ability.
Pedersen has a knack for big moments and can finish.
They will need to do what any 3A state tourney entrant needs to do. Use the TV timeouts wisely. Play only the forwards and D-men who can keep up. Try and keep the puck away from the middle of the rink, and capitalize on any chances you get, or you won't stay in the game very long.
Happy for them and their program. They play a tough schedule and they won't be blown out. Looking forward to seeing what they can do on Wednesday.

Ooopsie. LDC drew Hermantown this morning. (from one Red Army team to another)
That stuff I said about competing just fine?
Nevermind.

Rough draw. Do what you can boys. Enjoy the trip. Win a couple at Mariucci. Still proud of your season.

3 weeks since a 3A post? Crazy!

So, what is the deal on the Coach Openings 2016-2017 thread that Luverne is looking for a new coach? I'm up north, I don't hear the southern scuttlebutt.

Tough shoes to fill following previous coach. Perhaps the ad is for last years position and there isn't really a coach opening. Roll Cards roll

Congratulations to Jaxon Nelson!

Hopefully Jaxon and Chaz Smedsrud have a chance to play a couple more years together.

There may not be any interest for Luverne HS, Sioux Falls Stampede, or the player but is it within MSHSL rules for a player to play for both a HS team and USHL team at the same time, or can you only play in the USHL before and after the HS season?

In most cases it seems like it wouldn't be possible logistically so I doubt it has ever been done. Also, it could have an effect on the player and team psyche but I am just curious if it is possible.

Selfishly I would love to see him playing in MN but realize that may not be in his best interest due to the competition he faces some nights. If the HS team would allow him to suit up whenever he wants, it would be an interesting scenario
