Referee
I'm not the slight bit nervous. A couple of points: Most of the whiners were not even close on predicting the score. You will NEVER see in any of my posts any "whining" about the refs for ANY game.
I was not at the game....Is that the reason for the close score?

Other things
I was also at this game, and the most interesting thing to me is that it seemed like there were about an equal number of Moorhead and Jefferson fans. Where was the huge Jefferson crowd I've come to expect?
The reffing was interesting to say the least. They blew the whistle on a great jefferson opportunity when it was 2-1 because the ref didnt see the puck sitting 6 feet on the other side of the goalie. But the penalties called, especially the very confusing one where they put Christian in the box, then got him out and put someone else in there, man...I missed whatever happened to make that call.
This game was closer than the score. There were a number of close calls for Jefferson goals in the third, including a very loud shot off the pipe we could hear all over the stadium.
Duncan played goal in this game, I think it was only his second game all year. Very exciting for him, nice to see he can hang in there and get the win in a tough situation.

IF YOU THINK THAT WAS ONLY THE 2ND GAME JOE DUNCAN HAS PLAYED THIS YEAR - IT MUST'VE BEEN ONLY THE 2ND GAME YOU'VE SEEN THIS YEAR 'CAUSE HE'S BEEN IN THE NET FOR ALL EXCEPT 2 !bobthespud wrote:I was also at this game, and the most interesting thing to me is that it seemed like there were about an equal number of Moorhead and Jefferson fans. All in all, this was a good game. Jefferson looked much better than they did in the Schwan's Cup matchup. The first period was kind of slow, but by the end of the game the speed and intensity had picked up considerably. I believe there was only one penalty called in the first period, but there were plenty of players from both teams in the sin bin in the 3rd. A couple of coincidental roughing minors were called, as well as a cross-check, along with the usual hooking, tripping, and interference calls.Potatohead9 wrote:I really wanted to but work seems to always get in the way........I have to make sacrifices now so I can make it to the State Tournament!SPUDNUT wrote:Hey Potatohead -
Thought you were goin' down to the game.
CitySpudsGuy was at the game and reports questionable reffing.....
I will wait for his post game comments....
The officiating was questionable earlier in the game, in my opinion. A couple of obvious calls that were never made on Jefferson. The first was when the Spuds would have had a 2-on-1 break when Nick Thielen had the puck at center ice and clearly got hooked off the puck. The other was a huge collision when Jeff Foss skated around behind the Spuds net (with a Jag hot on his trail) and got blasted by a Jag who came at him with a full head of steam and what I thought was an elbow. All 3 players ended up in a pile. The refs made no calls in either instance. We all know the refs miss a few calls in every game (and maybe they missed some obvious ones on the Spuds too), but how they didn't make those 2 calls I don't know.

repitition
And nobody asked you......
It may be a sore spot with me, but any team could use the refs. Didn't sound like there were too many complaints.

I personally don't think the refs had much influence on this game. They let the boys play for the most part, and called a few penalties on both teams. I was impressed with the way the jags played, they went toe-to-toe with the 2nd best team in the state, pretty good for a 8-12 team. Watch out for these guys in sections.
