See, I believe that is the wrong approach. You must be in second, before you can be in first if you are currently in third. And finishing second has financial perks over finished in third.

If that doesn't work count to 100.

If that too fails (see below)

I understand the defensive side of it, but how many runs is he really saving, and at what cost? If one of your speed guys is batting .200 and consistantly flubs bunts... his defense cannot cover that. It just can't.

And at what point will we scratch the .150 DH? Now that it's pretty much over and the call ups are coming in a couple of days, can we put that to bed?

The call-up cupboard is and has been bare. From now until the end of the season, the only requirement for a DH is that hes cheap. Come to think about it, thats been the only requirement all year.

Now I don't watch a ton of ball but..
Justin IMO does not look like he's very confident at the plate..maybe just a slump ? but a bad time for it if so...and being I don't watch all the games, I may be way off...but it looked that way to me in this series.

Offensively, I believe that's true... although I wouldn't mind seeing this Matt Tolbert kid. If it is over (and I think it might be), I'd also like to see what those last couple of pitchers have (Blackburn & Duesening).

And hey! Fingers crossed & the good lord willing, we could be just a few hours away from the return of Matt LeCroy! In checking his stats, it looks as though he's batting a healthy .194 in Rochester - which is 32 points better than the fella who started at DH for the big club today!

IT'S BIG COUNTRY TIME!

Wow, if we're convinced we're out of it, why not just give the who line up to the minors? Why, that's the only way Punto won't start... :D

I'd like to see Denard Span get the call and play some in left, I wonder if it is possible that he could be ready enough a year or two down the road to play left rather than center. That is, of course, banking on the idea that Hunter gives a home town discount.

A few outs closer to that "last" out

To all those fussing and whining about Punto,.....in the present mode, if Punto hits better,.....all they get are more runners, L.O.B. If hitters 3,4,5,6 hit a little better we win close ballgames.

Late in the game yesterday, if hitter 4 gets a little hit, they tie the game,.....if he gets a little bigger hit, they go ahead by a run,......if he gets the hit that they pay him for (much more than Punto will ever make), they go up by 2, give the ball to Nathan, and they take a step forward in the standings,....but he strikes out, they lose 5-4.

Furthermore, If GMtana doesn't dig the Twins into a 4 ft hole, and limits it to a 2 ft hole,......they win 3-2, without Castillo, or a new hitter in the lineup.

Sure the Punto and the DH could hit better,.....but they are going down as a team.

I agree Knowlzee.

Its hard to figure what additional help you need when the guys you have arent getting the job done.

I think Ryan has been off his game lately but it doesnt matter. Even a big brain like GMtana wouldnt be able to fix this.

Of course if Ryan was a little sharper, if would free up GMtana so he could pitch in a critical game to keep his team in the race.
