Grand Rapids vs Bemidji

Nothing spectacular, although Tabaka made some outstanding saves to keep GR in the game early. Once they found their legs, it was over for Bemidji. Lots of chippy play again, but in that arena apparently anything goes. Knew it may be a long night of whistle blowing against Rapids while watching the JV play shorthanded for most of the night, but I suppose the penalties evened out. On to Thursday.
Congratulations to Trevor Tabaka for his first career shutout, and what I believe to be his first career penalty at the varsity level. Also congratulations to Nate Dumm on his first varstity goal. His second wasn't far behind.
Now hopefully none of you take Thurs. night off.
But who made the pass, very Tom Brady like. Ninety to a 100 feet and right onthe tape.
Very fun to watch, even if disheartening.
Kosak through the long bomb tape to tape. Nate got a great jump, and with his speed no one was gonna catch him. Great all around ice vision by both players.
Trevor put on a great show early with some acrobatic saves, and some tough saves he made look very easy.
Elliot, are you sure you weren't the guy with the big ears? You know, the one who should have bought a ticket because all he did was stand around and watch?
Character is who you are when no one is watching
No, the linesman was from Bemidj, but not me.GR3343 wrote:No one from the range could be that badelliott70 wrote:Dumm made a great read follwong the first man out of the 5 on 3.GR3343 wrote:Another workmanlike w for the Indians. Very fun to watch, even if disheartening.Agreed they made some mystery calls that weren't obvious, and missed some blatant stuff.

The main two guys were from Taconite or its suburb (Hibbing), I think.

Who was that guy last year? The backup? His name slips my mind.elliott70 wrote:Bemidji people did not believe me when I told them he was the back-up goal-tender.GR3343 wrote:For a kid who's had limited activity, Tabaka showed some great poise. In my opinion, he handles the puck away from the net better than others. His calm demeanor during the game showed he's ready to play in any situation. He's had what, 3 or 4 career starts? He played like he's been the #1 guy for 3 seasons. Very valuable having a guy like that.
But GR had a very good back-up last year, also.
First 12 minutes it was the Tabaka show. And some big saves later to keep Bemidji from getting intot the game.

He has gone on to college and last I heard was having a somewhat successful year tending goal at the level,
doing well in school,
but not much luck in finding a girlfriend.

I see he has two two starts in a row and has had a GAA of 3.50 and a save % over 92 in those two starts.
