Would it surprise you to know that Govs is the son of a Hill grad (prior to the merger with Murray)? It's always been a major disappointment in my life.Neutron 14 wrote:Govs, your dissertation explains so much!Govs93 wrote:So despite Neut's comment, my dad is proof that Eastside dads do indeed come through... eventually!

$1 a play or $2 bucks a week is a pretty cheap vice by today's standards.
It's the people that think buying buying 3, or 5, or 10 tickets significantly raises their chances winning that I get a kick out of.

You mean I am not going to win?
IT COULD HAPPEN, right?
Right? Tell me I have a chance. This is my RETIREMENT!!!!!!
Oh yeah, you're the brilliant one, merely throwing down 1 or 2 dollars a week. The real idiots are the 3, 5, or 10 dollar donators?tomASS wrote:Someone has to win it - IT COULD HAPPENWayOutWest wrote:How about people that actually think they CAN win the lottery?who_b_dat wrote:I am sick and tired of:

It's all about the simple fact that It Could Happen. For example, I'm a golfer and I'm not very good. It's an expensive sport and I lose a lot of balls. Why do I play? I want a hole in one. Should I quit just be cause the odds are against me...no. You know why? It Could HappenWayOutWest wrote:Oh yeah, you're the brilliant one, merely throwing down 1 or 2 dollars a week. You do realize that your chances at actually making ANY money are FAR better if you invest that 1 or 2 dollars a week, instead of buying nearly useless paper, right?
Most "vices" have some sort of guaranteed payout.............something that you enjoy, right? Where is the enjoyment in parting with your hard earned cash, each week, for nothing more than a paper stub or two?
"A fool and his money are soon parted."
Bad golf analogy.sinbin006 wrote:

No, because It Could Happen ... It Did Happen

Wild games = Entertainment.Govs93 wrote: It's another form of entertainment. You also throw $80 into Wild tickets and what do you get out of that? If you get a thrill out of playing the lottery, so be it. It bugs WOW, I could care less.
I still hate punks who can't wear a hat correctly though.
I'm not claiming it's entertainment for me... for some it is. Who's to say? Same thing with pull tabs. You'll see goofballs pulling those things all night long for for a chance to win $100, but they're having a good time with it. I agree with you that it's probably not the best "investment", but what people want to do with their money is their business, and so be it. Best of luck to them.WayOutWest wrote:Wild games = Entertainment.Govs93 wrote: It's another form of entertainment. You also throw $80 into Wild tickets and what do you get out of that? Lottery Tickets = Entertainment too? You're going to have to elaborate on that one. How is buying a lottery ticket entertaining to you?
I'm not "bugged" by you doing so. I merely think it is ludicrous for folks to actually believe that they have more than the tiniest sliver of a chance of earning anything other than empty pockets, from this endeavor.
And..........I fully agree with your hat comment. Cockeyed worn, fully flat brimmed hats, is just an advertisement saying, "Heyyyy....look at me!! I'm a complete stooge, and my hat proves it."
I typically agree with such things being people's own business, but I have witnessed more than a couple folks burn through their entire weekly paycheck in one sitting, tearing off tab after tab, forming a mountain at their feet. Somehow, I don't think they intended to dedicate 100% of their weekly pay on "entertainment", and across merely a single evening.Govs93 wrote: I'm not claiming it's entertainment for me... for some it is. I'll be somewhat kinder than ERE - I believe in natural selection and it is not the government's duty to protect us from one's self.WayOutWest wrote:: Sometimes people need to be protected from themselves.
