I'm back after a little break...

Duluth East will really have to have something horrible to happen this year for them not to win it. They have it all in the 4 areas that matter: Offense, defense, goaltending, and coaching. Lot's of pressure on the boys this year but they will be up to it, finally.

Love the 7AA hockey chat always

By the way, where is Rob Johnson playing this year, last thing I heard was that he didn't make the All-Star game at Fargo (USHL). Funny thing is, now Keegan Flaherty's been traded their and looks like he will have some good playing time...hmmmm...

East is clearly the favorite in my mind, though we'll see what happens when they travel to Cloquet

Anyone else with more info on him?
It would appear no penalty is involved because it's a physical move. I had no idea who this kid was until I did some Google work. Decent stats from last season, hopefully he can make a strong contribution to the Hounds this season.

By the way, DC?? Couldn't get out of Duluth fast enough post-graduation, eh? Image

This move should be suspect. His mother and sister still live in Brainerd. From what I understand his parents would have to divorce to make him eligible. I hope East doesn't have to forfeit games like a few years ago. Good luck with his oldman. He will watch every practice during the season. I wonder how Randolph will deal with that. He also has videotaped every game from ice-mites to the present. You will all see him with his camera at the games. Julius is a good kid. He is not a team player though. His stats from last year are good but he had alot of help from his linemates Frazer and Shepherd. They did all the work and Tamasy reaped the benefits. If you look deeper into his stats you will find he padded them against weeker teams and was a no-show against good competition.
Can anyone confirm this?
Very interesting if true.

Can confirm that his dad does video taping. Every Section 7 Elite II game I attended he had the camera out. He had a system for taping down the cord and such, so he's definately done it before.

Thanks but I was talking about the situtation where his mom still lives in Brainerd and how they would have to divorce to make it legit?

That's funny, I saw this also. At least he tapes down the cord! :D

The kid is a solid player. Hard worker and hard to knock off the puck.

:-k hhhhmmmmm. From the way the fans made it sound it was bad but thats what everyone that loses says. I hear Ed Hochuli wants to ref those games between them this year.

I don't think that was directed at last year's silly little referee controversy at all.

Anyone who has watched enough Duluth East-Cloquet knows that anything can happen, anytime, no matter who the favorite is.

And it has been a very, very long time since East won in the Lumberdome. A win in Cloquet this year would likely do wonders for the team psyche.

I just wanted to see what some hardcore East fans would say. In truth, I like East too.

I'd say I'm reasonably hardcore (or at least people around here think I am...those not from MN simply don't understand hockey the way we do). But then, I'm also rather hard on my own team...probably a product of also being a Yankees fan.

My gut instinct tells me Duluth East will get #1, Rapids and Anoka will battle for 2 and 3 again, and Cloquet will be 4. Which means East will get their favorite matchup in the semi's again. Hasn't it been 4 years now since East made it to the section finals?

I wouldn't be so fast to give Anoka a 2 or 3 seed...beyond Scott, do they really have that much? I still think they'll be in the upper tier, but they'll have to fight for a higher seed much more than they did last year. And I feel everyone aside from East is probably more likely to be upset this year (not that it couldn't happen to East) by one of the generally lower teams (Flake, Andover, ER). Essentially, the rankings are a bit harder to predict than last year, when we had an obvious top tier of 4 teams, and then everybody else. This year it's a top tier of 1 team, and maybe GR as the 2nd...but after that, though some teams are obviously better than others, it wouldn't shock me to see any of them beat each other.

Though to be honest, I'd rather have East's road to state go through Cloquet...there would be a lot of vindication in a section tourney win over the Jacks.

I have Followed section 7aa for awhile! Threw coaching and refing and alittle research heres what i come up with!

1) DE
2) GR
3) Andover
4) Cloquet
5) Elk River
6) Anoka
7) FL
8) CI

The reason why i put andover over cloquet was they jus man handled them in the short scrimmage they had. GR aregueably has the best D-Fence in the sectoin could compete for the Title. Elk River And Anoka Bringing back some key seniors but jus dont have it this year. And FL CI are just bruttal!

It will be tough for Rapids to get the number 2 seed because they will probably split their series with Greenway, an average Single A team.

I suggest you do a little research on how to spell and maybe you can expain why you think GR's defense is the best. Pretty hard to beat the group East will be putting on the blue line.

Manhandled?

quickgyn,

In 'rAndover' terminology a 2-2 tie is evidently a manhandling.

Well, it is the closest they've ever been to one of the 7AA contenders...
