So your definition of a "Meathead" is a individual that steps up to the plate willing to donate his time to educate some 14-15 year old kids rather than sit up in the stands and complain about what the "Coach" is doing. I am assuming you were that person

I would imagine Cloquet will be pretty good with this group of boys unless they lost their 2nd years to HS. The goalie they had was really good if he comes back as a 2nd year(?)

Grand Rapids and Cloquet should be good this year as this same group went to State as A Peewees

Ten Peewee A Teams to watch:

Changing of the guard in D8?
Rochester - Top player from last year returns, should be a contender in D8.
Rosemount - Super team moves on to peewees, although squirt success doesn't always indicate peewee success, first year players will add to one of the best forwards in D8 and one of its top goalies.
Farmington - Same as Rosemount, although not as much returning as it will be the players coming up that carry the load.
Hastings - some good returners from a competitive peewee team last year, could surprise a few people.
Prior Lake - Good crop coming up, growing program in D6.
Edina - How dominant will they be? The reasoning for two squirt teams will be evaluated on how this team does or will they have two?
STMA - Squirt super group, how will they handle the jump to peewee hockey? Can they back-up the hype or just another D5 mirage.
Forest Lake - Should be able to build on last years success with a solid squirt group coming in.
Osseo-Maple Grove - Second year of merger, should be better than the first right?
Jefferson - Is their reorganization going to start paying dividends, their coach should be coming back as well.
I think STMA was on my radar a little while ago.

Be ready to defend that Prior Lake comment. O-Town is liable to open up a can of beatdown all over you.

Ron, good call on STMA, I hear they are playing well.

However, Forest Lake is 0-5-1 in their last 6 games. I think it's safe to say you can remove them from your "Teams to Watch" list.

No doubt.

I am wondering myself about the Forest Lake one.

????Hermantown (maybe). They hung with Duluth East losing in overtime this week with their young backup goalie. Duluth East, however, was coming off a tough tournament weekend at Fryberger - having played some tough teams. D11 should be interesting this year.

Flake went back to inhouse evaluators, could just be a coincidence

or it could be that most of the kids play other sports in the summer and they don't hit the ground running as fast as some other teams....only time will tell.

Coon Rapids will lose too many of there players and no coaching
Lose players at the Bantam level? Don't think so, no coaching you are right
Edina or Duluth should be #1 centenial isn't very good, lost to edina 14-0

Re: Internal Issues

troogracefan wrote:We all know there are internal issues no matter what city you live in. In response to the Coon Rapids situation, an outside coach for this group is truely whats best for these kids. If the board has found a coach that has some experience at this age level and can successfully concentrate on the players, these kids will be ok. The coaches that took the Bantams to state years ago were 2 dads whose kids deserved to play and a Dad that went along for the ride. He was removed from the board because he coached a group of young men from squirts on up, then yanks his kid before his second year of bantams because he felt his son was too good for the kids he was responsible for helping develop? Guess what, he put his name in the hat again for this group(3rd boy thru the program) and has recently been announced as an assistant for the another cities HS team?? Gee, i wonder where this son will go to HS next year, but yet he wants to coach in the Cr program again??
This example is why it is important to have outside coaches involved; it will be the only way these kids have a chance to succeed. If another parent coached this team, there would without a doubt be kids from this team playing HS and that would not do the kids any good. The kids get along and have a chance to be a decent team, but this group of parents will do everything in their power to watch this guy fail. It would be nice to see all the parents actually sit in the stands this year, enjoy their sons performances and support this outside coach. Time will tell.

troogracefan......do you still believe that a outside coach is the right move for this team? All I can do is base my opinion on from what I am hearing and it is not a good thing. Is it true that the players have lost all respect for the coach? If, that is the case the rest of the season does not look to bright. Reading another post is the coach actually going to hang it up and quit? You seem to be more in the know than I am
