Just hope the players aren't reading this thread. With all the praise that's being heaped on them they could get a severe case of head swelling. But seriously, when do they play the Bulldogs?
I think Randolph said that game was scheduled in late March, shortly after they play Hermantown and Marshall
And the ticker-tape parade down East Superior Street.

Right now the Hounds are the best team in the state but anyone who has followed high school hockey knows that the best team in January is not always the best team in March. And even if they remain the best team in the state through the season it doesn't guarantee a state championship, an injury, a bad bounce or a hot goalie can put an end to a season real quick.

Last night's game was impressive though, East looked like a machine and they were clearly the better team than Maple Grove.

Very true, Chris. A lot of hockey yet to be played.

Kid is a beast and is playing at an extremely high level right now. Has to be Mr. Hockey front runner at this point

In the mix, absolutely, front runner I'm not so sure.

Grand Rapids better start playing some good hockey to compete with that.

Agreed. I hope Rapids gets healthy and hits their stride soon, 7AA playoffs will be much less interesting if they don't.
Section 7AA needs a state champion. If East loses in sections that might only serve to make the state tournament more interesting. Perhaps that's what most folks want.
Crown 'em.

Ehhhh...not quite yet. Elk River and Grand Rapids are capable of pulling off the upset.

Considering what Kloos has done both in the elite league and so far this year I'm going with him. Scoring in 41 straight games is pretty good.

And he's riding a 3+ point per game scoring streak over the last 8 games, with no real cupcakes on their schedule.

Yeah but their team play sucks....perfect Gopher. Lakeville South should learn a thing or two from Duluth East on TEAM play.

Northwoods - what are you saying? Kloos is responsible for your perception that LS team play sucks? He isn't the coach, he just does what he can to help his team win. He's definitely a plus (plus/minus) player. He plays on the team his high school fields. His goal/assist ratio would certainly lead one to believe he is trying to involve his "team". Can he help it that he doesn't have Olson and Tominato on his TEAM?

And, yeah, he IS a perfect Gopher. Currently ranked 3rd in the nation, with what almost all scouts would agree are blue chip recruits coming in the next few years.

Are we going to start judging Mr. Hockey on team play? There are a lot of great "TEAM" players - with 160 or so teams in the state one might expect that. How many of those "team" players do what Kloos does to help his team?

Randolph is a great player, but why disparage a player like Kloos because he plays for a coach/program you've determined doesn't play a good "team" game?

Just curious.

Well your team is sitting 6 and 4 on a light early schedule a fewquality games with losses to Breck (6-4) Edina (5-1 loss) and beat by one other top 10 AA team Eagan. So you come into a thread about East - Maple Grove talking about your star player. You sound like typical Gopher cheese talking individual stats on a thread that deals with East - Maple Grove.
Team hockey wins....your Gophers cannot figure that out and will not this season. Reason teams like Sioux and Dogs will beat you in the second half. There is a Mr Hockey thread you can pitch your guy all you want, he is a good individual player. East and Maple Grove for that matter get it done by playing team hockey, that is the game and reason they will succeed and your team will falter, one star does not carry a team too far.

To echo neumans point .... is this somehow Justins fault. Seems to me you fired the opening salvo! It was you who commented on their "team play" I guess he should have relocated to EAST so he could learn team play. If you took the time to watch a few elite league games you may have witnessed his team dominating the East boys with team play. While his current team is not in the same class as east at least compare apples to apples. Essentially your post ripped Justins team...well try this...add Skjie, Osterberg, Aerntz, Lindgren and go super school like EP and Tonka and maybe their team play might look a little different.

Northwoods - you seem to be a very bitter person. Someone on this post mentioned a front runner for Mr. Hockey, which is an INDIVIDUAL award given at the end of the season. A couple other people responded with a respectful differing opinion, and in doing so said nothing negative about ANYONE OR ANY TEAM. YOU were the first person on this post to mention Lakeville South ("their team play sucks").

After bashing Lakeville South, that wasn't good enough. Then it was the Gophers. Neither LS nor the Gophers are "my team". I'm a fan of hockey. I was thrilled when the Bulldogs won the national championship, and I'll be happy for DE if they (and they probably will) win the state title.

What are you so angry and bitter about?
