Absolutely, I thought boarding here would have been the right call. This is one of the very few charging calls I've ever seen. When they instituted the change of how calls were made someone remarked that not much will change except that we will see refs make more elbowing, roughing, and charging calls so they don't have to award the 5 minute major. After watching the tournament today they seem to be correct.skiumah wrote:Shouldn't matter. Reason he didn't signal right away, he was thinking about it. He knew that was boarding, but didn't want to call it.warriors41 wrote:I happened to watching the ref when he made the call and it appeared he wanted to see if he stayed down or not before he made the call.skiumah wrote:Should have been a 5 min boarding call on Nanne. Even Lou said he was lucky it wasn't 5 min. And what was Giles whining about?

seniors
I dont think the lack of seniors had anything to do with Edina losing in the quarters to a team that most people thought would win.
This group of players lost to 4 teams all season: Maple Grove, Tonka, Wayzata and Benilde. Not bad. These players outperformed all preseason predictions and played with great poise all season long.
Versus BSM, there was no indication that Edina was rattled, lost composure or had a case of the yips. Benilde put the puck in the net more often and deservedly won the game. A junior and a soph scored for Edina, and its freshmen and sophomores were unfazed by the first-time experience.
There are probably more reasons why Benilde proved to be the better team Thursday night, but lack of seasoning among the Hornets was not one of them.

No one can deny Besse's offensive skills, but did anyone else notice his lack of effort/backcheck on the play in the 3rd when I believe it was #23 for BSM got a penalty for hauling down Hurley. Besse totally had the best angle to get to Hurley but made no effort at all to get there. Is this his modus operandi or was that an aberation?
