I love Sats81 predictions because he's either exactly right or he is so far wrong it's painful. No middle ground!Sats81 wrote:Yep. Nuff saidSats81 wrote:Eagan 4-2

Hopefully the atrocious officiating goes away with the venue next year. I wasn't at the STA/EV game so I can't comment on that, but I'm surprised no one has said anything about tonight.deacon wrote:Disclaimer: I graduated from STA and am a huge homer.
That being established, I can't believe there isn't an outcry from Eastview fans or STA haters about the officiating in that game. It was the worst officiated game I've ever seen. The Cadets were on the receiving end of some calls that I thought were laughable, in their favor. The Eastview coach was livid and I can't say I really blame him.
Donohue went to hit the Eagan player after the whistle and the other guy hit him also but sent Donohue flying. Donohue went for the original hit and thats why he got the penalty. The Eagan player also got a penalty so I had no problem with the call.HShockeywatcher wrote:deacon wrote:Disclaimer: I graduated from STA and am a huge homer.

The first period wasn't terrible, but when the official celebrated at Eagan's first goal, it all went badly from there. Donohue was checked from behind into the boards after the whistle, went down and was called from interference. How does one get checked from behind into the boards and go to the box? I've seen guys get majors and ejected for much less.
That was really the icing on the cake.
.
We give penalties for "going for a hit" now? If that were the case, then where were all the penalties when Eagan players "went for the hit" on Novak?green4 wrote:Donohue went to hit the Eagan player after the whistle and the other guy hit him also but sent Donohue flying. The 2013 team did not face a AA section tournament or a AA state tournament so that's false.Cadets16 wrote:As a non-hockey playing Cadet, I will tell you what I think. This is just my opinion alone.
The 2013 team was probably the best team we've fielded in years. I feel they could have won the AA tournament last year.
However, the jump to AA is tricky. There is a double standard for us. If we win, private school dominance has gone too far, but if we lose then we "shouldn't have made the jump", even after everybody called for it. So it's a tricky situation. We can win another state tournament at the A level, or battle our way through AA to a section runner-up.
It will be interesting to see much of anything from STA next
year. Rumors float that Novak and Versich may go to pursue junior hockey. I do know the JV team was very sophomore and freshmen heavy, so we shall see where that gets them next year, should they lose Novak and Versich.
Who stays will really be what matters most. There are 3 regular contributors this year that are seniors and I don't think any started regularly.WendyClark wrote:It will matter what STA kids will do now cause they are not guaranteed state tournament championships or even state tournaments berths

Curious, then, as to your thoughts about the no call where the STA player got leveled behind the play in the Eagan zone in the 2nd period?
Like I said, it was the icing on the cake.

You just made my night. I'm 35...and in my childhood this was sung to me. Often apparently, because I could recite the whole thing today.MrBoDangles wrote:http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Y52bs0aX6v8HShockeywatcher wrote:We give penalties for "going for a hit" now? One guys "goes for a hit" and the other checks him from behind into the boards. You don't give penalties for "going for a hit." Pretty simple.green4 wrote:the hit was after the whistle.................. Like you stated just above........... that warrants a penalty
I'm assuming your talking about the hit Wolff had near the blue line. I thought that hit was fine with the way they were calling the game, the refs were letting them finish checks
1) Donohue went for the hit after the whistle, the Eagan player defended himself and Donohue went flying. If Donohue didn't want to get leveled tell him to not hit people after the whistle. The whole thing could have been avoided without him going for that hit. The Only people that seemed to have a problem with this was STA. I was watching it on the stream and both the commentators agreed on the call.HShockeywatcher wrote:One guys "goes for a hit" and the other checks him from behind into the boards. Finishing checks? He skated up to a player who hadn't had the puck for seconds and just leveled him away from the play.
I've been on the advantageous side of poor officiating in the past and the victory doesn't feel as good. The inconsistency of how the calls were made/not made with respect to each team was incredible.
I'd be interested in seeing film on the play. The Eagan player skated up to Donohue from behind as the whistle was blown; hard to be attacking a player who is skating up to you.green4 wrote:1) Donohue went for the hit after the whistle, the Eagan player defended himself and Donohue went flying. 2) I don't think were talking about the same hit because the one Im talking about he had the puck and chipped it out right before he got hit.
3) STA got outplayed tonight, quit blaming the refs I thought they did a fine job.
