My world

Post by ChrisK »

Packerboy, just to set the record straight, I wouldn't give up Mauer AND Morneau for Bonderman. One or the other, sure.

I'm JOKING, those guys are untouchable.

Anyway, I did some research awhile ago and of the available DH candidates I believe I liked Moises Alou. A solid veteran with playoff experience, he is old but I believe he put up good numbers last year and presumably would be a guy the Twins could afford. If Thomas is available the Twins have to look at him.

Right now the staff is very thin, they have to get a veteran to replace Radke. Without looking at any numbers, I like Batista, my recollection is that he gets a lot of K's and while he has had some injuries, he seems like a guy who has potential. I would not want Weaver, playoff performance notwithstanding he has just been a basket case, he's a guy with talent but could implode at any moment.

Who I want:
-Barry Zito
-Mark Redman - if he wins 9 games and you factor in he can't beat the Twins 5 times, that's a 14 game winner
-Frank Catalanotto

Who I'll get:
Todd Pratt
Matt Stairs
Larry Gura

Where have you been Chris K?

Anyway, I am surprised you are not campaining to void the Sheffield trade as not being in the best interests of baseball.

The Twins have put together some amazing pitching depth in the organization. Now its time to tap it.

Forget getting a veteran pitcher. Radke was a veteran and he was like a boat anchor the first half of the season. We have enough young arms. Use them.

Go get Frank Thomas.

IS, I ike the idea of signing Redman as a 'defensive' move. Brilliant.

As far as your 'who youll get list', I think Ryan learned his lesson last year. It makes no sense to sign marginal free agents.

May as well see how the guys you have will do (Bartlett , Punto last year) than sign guys off of the garbage heap.

THEY NEED A HITTER! If they sign one, they will be back in the playoffs with the staff they have.

Congrats to TR. He deserved it.

He could have done better had he listened to us but what else is new.

We have the best exec, batting champ and Cy Young in the bag. Would have had the Rookie but for a ligament.

Now lets get the MVP.

The Redman idea is genious, we have home field throughout last year if he is not in the league.

Frank Catalanotto is actually looking like a reasonable option at this point. It sounds 2 years and 6 million will sign him, and he is a solid left-handed bat who gets on base and has some pop. Sadly all of the FA pitchers are out of our price range with the inflated price tag many are going to have. I like Miguel Batista, he is an innings eater who would look great at the end of our rotation.

I'll take Zito and Soriano.

Carl can pony up, we're going to build him a stadium...

You are right Neut, he should pony up. But not because we are building a stadium. The stadiun is for us not him. Its for all the little packerboy jrs and Neutron 15s.

He should pony up because I think it would be a good investment. He has a hot commodity now. The hottest in town. Playoffs for 4 years straight and division champs, great young players and a new park coming soon.

Strike while the iron is hot, make hay while the sun shines, the early bird catches the worm, he who hesitaites is lost... oh sorry, got carried away.

Put the Vikings back to where they belong, third option on the sports scene. Come on Carl, you cant take it with you.

Your right packerboy. We need to start a movement to get Carl to invest in his last days. To create a legacy that doesn't include forclosing on farmers in the dust bowl era. To boldly go where no stodgy old banker has gone before.

Our movement needs a name. Any sugggestions?

Pat Burrell? They say the Phillies are looking to trade him and eat some of his contract. Does that excite anyone as far as LF/DH goes?

Absolutely not. His salary is way too high, and strikes out way too much, with a poor average. There is a reason the Phils are trying to get rid of him and few have expressed interest. Rumored to also be a cancer in the clubhouse.

Pat Burrell interests me very little. However, if the Phillies would like to move Aaron Rowand, I could live with him as the Twins leftfielder.

Twas the night before Twins camp and all through the Dome
Not a free agent was stirring, not even a Ron Villone

The Jerseys were hung by the bat rack with care
In hopes that Carlos Lee would someday be there

The pitchers were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of a harry chested thumper danced in their heads

With Francisco in rehab and Brad no longer around
Gardy and his ticker were finally sleeping sound

When out on the warning track there arose such a clatter
The skipper sprang from his office to see what was the matter

Away to the bullpen he ran like McGee
Had he gone any faster he'd need another EKG

When what to his wandering eyes should appear
But a silver wheechair and eight minnhock posters standing near

With a little old rider, so tired and sad
I knew in a moment it was Mr. Pohlad

More rapid than his forclosures the posters they came
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name

Now, ChrisK! Now, Empire! Now, Packerboy and Breeze
On, Goldy! On, Nuetron, On Shanty, and boblee

Off we shall fly to the top of the League
Then he turned to the posters and asked what we need

Chrisk said pitching, you can never have too much
Afterall its who you turn to when the hitting's not clutch

That's hogwash, pure hogwash, I can't take anymore
We need hitting responded the Boy to score score score

Enough is enough I've read all your posts
forn since its my moeney I shall say the most

I've mad a wish list and have checked it twice
No doubt Soriano or Zito would be nice

But remember it's me, who's spending the dough
So expect nothing more than a Jeff Fassero

He spoke no more words and gave them no time
Cause he remembered he misplaced one dime

He sprang from his posters and wheeled out of sight
"Happy free agency to all and to all a good night"

That's a masterpiece IS, kudos.

Today in the Star Trib there was talk of a trade for Colorado's Jason Jennings. I know that's not music to the ears of those yearning for the big bat, but Jennings did post a 3.78 ERA last year and has pitched 200+ innings 2 of the past 3. He would definitely bolster the rotation and probably be our # 2 or # 3 starter. They talked about trading a young pitcher like Garza, Perkins, Bonser, or Baker for him. I doubt we would give up any of the first 3, but Baker is definitely a possibility.

Johan's getting the Cy Young today, if it's not unanimous I will lose the little faith I have left in the baseball writers.

IS, that was amazing.

JJ wouldn't be bad because remember that he puts up those #'s with at least 1/2 his games at Coors.

We need a bat though!

But also remember he puts up those numbers against a weaker league and against pitchers hitting.

He could be a 'Radke type' which would probably make ChrisK happy as a clam.
