The top five teams in 7A alone would put the best 1A could deliver into running time
BIAFP, I do recall a section 7 team (Virginia) with a certain future NHL player on their team play in the state tournament a couple years ago. Well, turns out, they played some weak 1a southern mn team (Albert Lea) during their time in St Paul. Also turns out, this weak 1a team put a snowman (8 goals) up on the scoreboard against them.

Since you brought up "top 5s" in the respective sections, lets match 1a #5 seed Red Wing against 7a #5 seed Greenway. If I were a betting man, and I am, I would certainly like my odds with Red Wing. I'm sure others would agree.

i'm with you on that bet man. red wing is a great team with a great coach. unfortunately for them they are in a great section and got stuck with a 5 seed. they could still make a run though, all of the top 5 teams in this section can.

Why is this a joke? They were seeded last in the section and their record was horrible this year. I don't think they need you to point out that they need to improve their game for next year. I have to give East credit if they really faced close to 60 shots and only allowed 14, that was a good game for them this year.
Let's think about this buddy. Usually when a team beats another team by 14 goals its considered a joke. RW could have beat this team 3 on 5 with no goalie. I wouldn't even consider a 75% save percentage a siv... that's more like a toilet seat lettin all that sh** in.

Yeah, you really missed my point THEY KNOW THEY ARE BAD, why rub it in....IT'S THE WORST TEAM IN OUR SECTION...Red Wing is a good team, they don't need fans to act like it should have been a closer game. From what I heard, they could have sat the top line through the second period. BIG DEAL!! I can't wait until your team gets sat on their cans by some of the better teams in the section. Regardless I want to see our section take state.

I'll chime in on some thursday predictions

Lacrescent 4 Lourdes 3 (ya, but what if I am right  )
RW 3 NP 4 (2ot)
Faribo 2 West 8
Northfield 1 AL 4

Does anyone think that any of the favorites may be overlooking their opponents??

They shouldn't be, it's one and done now, and some teams have nothing to lose.
Thank You Jim its nice to see some one has faith in those boys

To be honest, I think West will be the best bet in the section right now. I think the lacrescent vs lourdes game will actually turn out to be a great game. It is basically a game of a great team vs a team with nothing to lose and something to prove. I dont think NP can knock off Red wing right now but it will still most likely be a tight game. I also think Albert lea will beat NF fairly easy but i dont think it will be a blow out.

i may dissagree with hockeystud in the sense that if northfields goalie can play his best, they have a chance, but otherwise albert lea is just too solid of a team. i think lourdes may be riding a little high after the number 1 seed and lacresent definitely has something to prove. new prague ion my mind is the sleeper, i think they should handle red wing. good luck to all tonight.

I believe the four top seeds will win.

It doesn't matter what the scores will be, by 10 or by 1. A win and you practice tomorrow. A loss means dust off the clubs and hope the snow melts.

Agree totally! Possibly an upset in the NP/RW game, it's a toss up. I'd give the nod to NP since at home, maybe, or maybe not.

Will the guns of NP be able to handle the added pressure of having some additional "EYES" watching them. Rumor has it several prominent WCHA head coaches will be in the building...tDon, Jutts etc.

#16. Is he Good? Arguing with the ref, up 6-1 is a bad way to end your career.

speaking of ejections, what are the odds of at least one of west's players getting thrown out tonight?

Good game tonight for the Tigers. They got the re-match they wanted. Saturday should be a doozy.

Any NP vs RW updates?

West 8 Fairbo 2...west controlled play right away and then fairbo got the lead and it was even for about a period but once west got the lead they put them away. West vs AL should be a great one on saturday.

NP 4
RW 2

Goals for New Prague - Ambroz shorthanded,Tyler Lapic, Schyler Adams 2

Not sure for Red Wing

Shots were 27-26 NP i believe

It was an intense matchup either team could have had it, but New Prague had the home field advantage. Even though there was Lucia, the Mankato Head Coach, and the St Cloud Head Coach in the stands i believe, the top guns did not choke, they really stepped it up tonight.

Collin Schoenecker also had a great game tonight stopping 24 of 26 or so. He made the saves he needed to make and lead the team to there first Section Playoff victory.
