Kubel, now there's a name from the past.
Stats for Jul 28 and 29
Jason Kubel (0 AB, 0 INN)
Irishmans Shanty (0 AB, 0 INN)
Yup, Kubel has done just as much as I have so far this series. Come to think of it, on Monday Gomez was hurt and Cuddyer was too, the Twins were two outfielders down and Kubel still couldn't get on the field.

Oakland B.H. (Before Hurt): 15-9, 4.7 runs per game
Oakland A.H. (After Hurt): 38-44, 4.2 runs per game
Twins record with Jason Kubel starting: 41-34
You know what that means... The Kubel Factor is +13. No spin. Just facts. And just out of curiousity, since the Big (always) Hurt hasn't played since May 27, exactly how much would he be contributing to the hometown team?
Mike Redmond career vs. Mark Beuhrle: .500 (14-28 )... yeah, that was a Kubel related move.

According to the Red Star the Twins have had a lot of conversation with the Ms about Beltre and the Ms want a Slowey/ Blackburn/Perkins in return and the Twins wont do it.
Why bother. If they dont want to do another Garza/Young deal, what are the options?
If Liriano is healthy, they have an excess of starting pitchers. Do they think they can get Beltre for Livan?
They have done a great job in stockpiling young pitching that is at least somewhat proven at the MLB level. Now, cash in on it.
Too afraid to make a mistake.

A little rain wont hurt you Govs. Get out there.
Go to the game tonight and you can see Jason in person and.......oh, sorry, Danks is a lefty.
Well, you'll think of something.
I am sure the Sox main motivation in signing Griffey was to try and counter what has become the key to this series: The Kubel Factor

It does get a little silly though.
The Twins get beat up one game and the cry goes out for the front office to do something.
"Oh, Casilla is out what , whatever shall we do"
This is the same guy Gardy wanted no part of a couple of months ago.
The Twins just cant go and get a hitter. They have got to be concerned about what effect that would have on Jason Kubels at bats.
I mean, think about it, who needs Thomas, Beltre, Dunn, Griffey etc when you got Kubel.
If Livan goes the way of the rest of their bargain basement busts, they got Liriano.
Billy, Billy, Billy......

Griffey should be in uniform at the dome tonight, incidently he has 38 career dingers against the Twins, that's a lot. My memory is a little foggy but Jr. must have had a lot of AB's against the Twins before the AL went to 3 divisions.
The Sox had to relinquish what basically would amount to Brian Bass and Matt Tolbert to get Griffey. I agree with Billy, stay out of this high stakes bargaining. Save, Save, Save and stockpile prospects for the future.

MIAMI (AP) -- The Florida Marlins bolstered their bullpen Thursday by acquiring left-hander Arthur Rhodes from the Seattle Mariners for minor league right-hander Gaby Hernandez.
Florida, in the thick of the NL East and wild-card races, made the deal a few hours before baseball's 4 p.m. EDT trade deadline.
The 38-year-old Rhodes is 2-1 with a 2.86 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 22 innings. He has a lifetime record of 77-61 with a 4.28 ERA in 689 games.
The 21-year-old Hernandez went a combined 5-8 this season with a 6.47 ERA in 17 starts for Triple-A Albuquerque and Double-A Carolina.
This is what we need to avoid Billy. Immediate help sure, but look what you've got to give up! A 6.47 ERA guy! Be patient Billy, we're only in our 17th year of rebuilding....

So there were no moves? Couldn't find any surfing the web. Only comment I really read was from Nathan saying they didn't need anyone else. He said they're only 1.5 out with this team, and getting Cuddy back will be like a deadline deal.
Not so sure, but we've got a little over 50 games to find out.
Liriano is reportedly on his way up and the team said they will figure out a way to have him in the rotation. This from an unnamed source.
