What's the cause of MW's inconsistency? Big losses to Mayo and now Lourdes. They also recently lost to Winona. It must be their soft schedule? Their big wins have been over MankatoE (2), LeSuer, Waseca, Austin (2) and Northfield. There could be several factors. First, the loss of T. Bruggeman in go...

Re: Section 1A Rankings

Hey there fellow Section 1A Followers, I am new to this board I just moved down to this area about two years ago. I grew up on the range and love High School Hockey. I go to a game just about every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I follow Section 1A very close. Let me know what ya think of ...

Nice call '...Bridge'. It was a fine game from a fan perspective. The fans were definitely into it! Both teams played hard. West needs to stay out of the box, though. Penalties were 12-8 for West, with West giving up 2 PP goals. More importantly, their line flow was messed up because of all the pena...

They met in the summer in Blaine. Rosters, I believe, are similar. West won that game easily, if I recall correctly. Best two teams in the state, from a record standpoint. At least one of them should have been seeded. Both are probably better than Warroad, and certainly better the SCC. Regardless, t...

lets see you score a goal with 0.01 seconds left in a really close game against a rival and see what you do! the fact is it was the game deciding goal after that goal mw had all of the momentum, which lead to them coming out and scoring in the third. So how would you have reacted? I was talking abo...

I was very suprised and disappointed how the West-AL game unfolded. In the first period, nobody seemed ready to play. In the second period, the intensity picked up a bit...but just as it seemed there was a good flow to the game, the refs would make a weak penalty call. Big momentum changer for West...

West is rolling right now and proved it last night. AL was on their heels the entire 3rd period, and clearly did not have the depth to skate with West late in the game. West is well conditioned, and are more disciplined as of late than many on this forum are willing to give them credit for. They now...

Congratulations, Ricky, on winning the state scoring title! And to do it with your primary linemate out for 5+ games is quite an accomplishment. And, kudos to Mankato West for winning the Big 9. Good luck on your journey to the state tournament!

I would sure like to be a fly on the wall when the seedings are being set! So...here we go... 1. Lourdes (they beat West, after all) 2. West (probably has the...

I agree with you and I disagree with you. First I was not at the West vs. Mayo Game so I cannot say anything there. If what you are saying is true then the refs should have let the kids play. However; maybe the refs were making all of the correct calls and they were being consistent and both teams ...

I am appalled by the constant chatter on this thread (and others) about officiating. Is that what this great game has come to? Scrutinizing every call/non-call a referee makes? Is the expectation that of perfection? If that is not a realistic expectation of the players, then why do some feel that s...

Great game. A battle that may be fought again in a few weeks. Lourdes played very well, and was not fazed by a 2 goal deficit mid-way through the second period. They fought hard, and it ultimately paid off. They have some fine players, and are well coached. West can, at least in part, lay part of th...

hockeypurist, In response to your first post; if you walked the halls of our schools (public, private, what have you), and even lots of classrooms, you would hear and see similar and much worse talk/actions coming from students. Wasnt there a game down somewhere in the cities, I think around x-mas time where the team played one period, the ref's werent calling penalties, so the team didnt even come out for the rest of the game and left for home? I, too, have to challenge Holyrider's motive. The MW/Mayo game was one of the most overofficiated games I have ever seen. It was the 'Josh Brown Show', has some have coined whenever he officiates a game. He was the same official who had Corey Leiverman suspended for 4 games. Nevertheless, had the ga...
