Re: asked

I asked the question How many high school championships to make a point. BANTAM HOCKEY like SQUIRT HOCKEY doesn't equate to squat in the long run!!!! What happens in Centennial from 9th grade to 12 grade that this area is not a fixture at the state tournament? Don't tell me Junior/NTDP/Privates, if...

Re: Cougars

The facts say that Centennial is the only team to win a State High School tourney out of every bantam state finalist since 01. With the way some of you rip the high school coach you must use the same logic to give him credit. If I remember that 04 team was very well coached and played awesome team ...

Re: How many

How many state high school championships have they won in since 2002? 1 title! Bantams and high school have very little in common. Once in high school you are competing with 4 and some time 5 grade levels, private schools, open enrollment, USA development, and Juniors. Yeah its great that they have...

Re: Cougars

You can win at the pee wee and bantam levels with finesse teams. Which is what cetennial has always had. Cavers and Karl have both done great jobs with their teams no doubt. But high school hockey is much differant than bantams. Now bigger, stronger less finesse players match up better against those...

Centennial should be up near the top. They will be playing in the 6th Bantam State Championship game since 2001. This is their 4th title game in a row. Now bantams don't really mean high school success since in high school you are competing with 4 age groups, privates, open enrollment (not for long)...

Re: post 10213

And how in the world would we run a nine team state tournament? If you look how I broke it down it would only be 8 teams. The privates would be one of the metro teams. Fair enough. You lost me down there. I still don't like it, but it adds up. My apologies. How about this boblee? 2 from the North f...

HOW much does the Title IX and No Child left behind affect this all? You can't do it, but should make sure the HS Girls Hockey pays for renting out of XCEL from their budget when the free rent ends? Maybe have the parents that put together the law suit come up with the cash? If not, it that will de...

We need to keep the tourney like it is. I would like one class with 5 from the metro, one from central MN, one from Northern MN, and one from the south. No matter what, the tourney is just that. Only sometimes will the best team win the tourney. Anything can happen on a given night and weekend. Nort...

They were the deepest team in the tourney and their goalie played his best at the right time of the year.

Very deserving champs! Well coached!

The people who should be really at fault is the local school board. They spend all that money on a new middle school and new athletic fields around it while other school buildings in the community are basically taking up space and not being used properly. Yet your blaming the people at the State Ca...

It's a sad day when they continue to cut things. I don't blame this on the local schools or teachers. The way we fund schools is simply messed up. There is way too much waste because the decision makers at the State Capitol and to a small extent the Federal govt. have no idea what is truly best for ...

The schedule talk is way overblown! Both Hill and Roseau didn't have nearly as tough of schedules but they did well. Minnetonka had a much tougher schedule than Benilde but that didn't get them to state. Roseau's depth was the issue in the end. Hill had too much depth and was the best team. This tou...

If we went back to a one class system fewer hockey players would go to these private schools because fewer of them would have a chance to make it to state. A quote from Lechner in the Star Tribune.

"They are too good a team," Hill-Murray coach Bill Lechner said. "We couldn't sit back. Our game plan was to get a one- or two-goal lead and use our depth to wear them down."
