Change

Well I will take the bait and beat the drum again. Minnesota hasn't followed along with USA hockey for quite awhile now on birth years that is why we cannot participate in National Championships at the Tier 1 or 2 level. So what compels us to comply with the rest of the book? There was a reason Herb...

New Rules

I am a little perplexed. Havent reffed in several years but if my memory serves me the rules for boarding, checking from behind and head contact have always allowed for either a 2 minute minor when it was appropriate or a double minor 4minutes or a 5 minute major when an intent to injure was evident...

USA Hockey

USA Hockey wants your money plain and simple. Whether it is the $10 increase this year or the money for modules or continued education for coaches. Remember when we were told that once you were a level 4 that was it no more recertification then came the Age specific modules. Changing the age level f...

Invite and open

Years ago when my oldest who is an 86 played they were pretty strict about playing in both the invite and open tournaments. It was looked at as cheating. No different than using a 97 on a 98 team. You are correct as I see quite a few of the same kids playing both weekends and in fact see teams that ...

Just figured the shear amount of money being made by the tourney the least they could do is hold true to the promise that schedules would be out no less then two weeks prior. Sorry didnt mean to wake the "Alliance" giant. Will my poor little AAA team be excluded now that I have riled every...

Meltdown Schedules

Has anyone seen the schedules for the Meltdown or know where to find them. The website says they will be available two weeks prior and as of yet nothing.

Southern Minnesota AAA

I believe there is already a AAA program in Southern Minnesota, the Mavericks are based out of Albert Lea. They are one of the oldest AAA programs in Minnesota and have a great coaching staff. There are no open tryouts, you have to be asked to come to there camp. Everyone that is asked to camp makes...

coaching stipend

Jackstraw, one to two thousand seems to be the average from the folks i have talked to. You are a non parent head coach you deserve a little something. You could always move to Omaha or Kansas City and demand a thousand dollars a player, we both know they get it to.

I will take Owatonna, this team is solid. The girl goalie is better than most A goalies and the Hanson kid who plays forward not sure how he ended up on a B squad he should be a first line kid on the A team.

Actually the Rudnick kid is a 93 who is on quite a few "lists" he is an above average d man with great feet and is very coachable. I believe he is from Champlin Park. Not sure why he left.

My vote goes to Griffin Wangen of Albert Lea. He is a 94 and leading his District 4 team to regionals. Amsden of St. Pete is good also and also a 94, seems to be struggling a bit this year but has a ton of natural talent. I would also mention the Marshall goalie Brandon Wildung who is a 93. Pretty s...

This sounds an awful lot like the scenario I have heard about. I believe the final count was 12 teams and a 50 game schedule.

AAA Hockey

Lots of great points made both pro and con in regards to AAA in season hockey. Elliott makes the statement that there is nothing on the table at this time regarding AAA hockey. While that may be true and if Elliott says it is I am sure it is. However, (you knew it was coming) there is discussion abo...

I would love to know what new tournaments there are. I have ties to one of the independent teams and am always looking for alternatives. If you have a website or if you want to pm me that is fine.

I would add Dillon Stolt of Albert Lea as well as Austin Head of Dodge County very good players. Don't forget Zach Hoffman of New Ulm he is a very talented d-man with good size.

Newbie here. I might as well jump in, I hear the water is fine. Bernie keep doing what you do, after all those who want what your selling are getting an excellent product and those who don't can keep walking. Simple, and to the point. This forum is for opinions and all are entitled. My experience is...
