Eden Prairie is the best team I've seen all year. I've seen Edina, Benilde, Jefferson, WBL (they sucked), Hill Murray(average at best), Duluth east(OK), and Breck(single A, enough said). Leddy is by far the best player. Tonka is very good, with the most underrated player in the State with Sam Coatta...

The Mr. Hockey Award is given to the outstanding senior high school hockey player in the state of Minnesota and is selected by a panel of National Hockey League Scouts, Division One coaches and selected media members from around the state. Ryan McDonagh from Cretin-Derham Hall was the 2007 Mr. Hock...

I think that Edina will underestimate the Red Knights who have really hit their stride lately. Add to that the fact that BSM wants revenge for last years loss in the state semi-final overtime thriller and Pauly might be the best motivator in the state. I like the Red Knights in an upset with Meyers...

Isn't the Frank Brimsek award for goaltenders? How many goalies have won Mr. Hockey in the past? It's hard to argue many of the past award winners by saying they rack up points against weak teams when many have played for top programs in the state. Sure some kids won't get considered but that's how...

From watching a couple of his games, i'm astonished if the gophs are seriously looking. He is very athletic, but i have never seen another goalie get out of position like he does. he can get away from it in hs but im not so sure at another level. Again, this may have only been the couple games i sa...

So who do you think deserves Mr. Hockey? Or has in the past? Just curious. I'm sure you expected this, but, I think it's irrelevant. I think there are 10 at least who could and should be awarded this. I don't think there is just one. Like I said, six positions with dynamic measurements at each, man...

Did not winning Mr. Hockey make you this angry?  Don't you think if you let players decide they'll all vote for their teammates and friends? There are going to be politics however you look at it and I think they've been doing a good job the way it is. Get over it. Mr Hockey --Me? No. I c...

I don't go just by what the NHL scouts say. I talk to many NHL scouts, go to many games and watch the players myself. No one has said that Benik is better than Lee or Faust, it obvious to anyone who knows hockey that he racks up points against garbage teams. We are just talking about who the top sc...

Add Jordan Lovick to that list, kid is phenomonal. This is the stupidest and most political athletic award given in Minnesota sports. There is no way to fairly measure the 20 players who deserve to win this award. There are six different positions played by many talented players against a far too d...

Ness, McDonough, Fischer, Brian Lee, those all sound like players who were rewarded for their efforts and their teams strong finishes, not selfish play. Two second rounders and two first rounders in the NHL draft, not exactly kids who rack up stats by playing against garbage competition. Again you ...

Rating goalies based on purely stats from pointstreak doesn't really paint a clear picture. All of the goalies listed play on top end teams. GAA is going to be low, Save percentage also. Are these goalies seeing the same amount of goal scoring chances as lower or mid level teams. I think the Moberg...

Re: Steffen 5 on 5 league
What are the opinions on this league? I know nothing about it but it is on the path to determine who the best players really are by taking them off so many power plays and making them show their skills 5 on 5. I really like the idea. Even better if the league doesn't allow "loaded" lines....

Sorry everyone for not staying on the topic here but I want to hopefully make a point here and its gonna take a little explaining to set it up. i have now seen about 8 of the top scoreres. Benik is very good. I think his twin the goalie may even be better - and he gets no press at all. One of the best, if not the best tender i have seen this year. if you were to put everson, lee, and a score of the other top players on the St. Francis team...

and have you yourself see any of these kids play? and hanowski would be good anywhere. you just sound extremely biased and ignorant. I have seen 7 of the 10 in person and not just this year. Roseau; you are right on target. The point is, we don't know how good Roseau really was since they didn't play near the schedule of the Elite city teams. If they played Eden prairie's schedule last year they may have had 3-5 losses, and still may have done well at state. And, their players all would...

top scorers
None of these guys would have 10 goals in the Lake or Classic Lake with a schedule against Tonka, Jefferson, Eden Prairie, Edina. There are ten players in each of those conferences that are better than any of these guys but won't get noticed on the "most points" scoreboard. What's more, wi...
