I think the only MN Hockey rule regarding playing level is that you cannot play into a younger age group. CRMite Hockey is right otherwise. I know one association requires the player be rated in the top 5 overall of the level in order to award them a spot on the A team and others will not entertain ...

wonders if any of you have ever watched the Minnesota boys state high school hockey tournament. Have you ever watched the awards ceremony after the game and they have gone through the handshake line? Well I have and it is customary to shake medal winners hands as they get their medals. It happens e...

Dislaimer: I have nothing against any team, player or coach involved in this tourney, in fact I respect each involved in this tourney because I know it takes so much time, money and effort just to get there. This topic however deserves its own thread! "Do you really need 3 handshakes after tit...

Almost, there apparently is no such thing as D5, at least it is not listed on Mn Hockey website which is where I got the list of districts from.

I am curious to know the path of hockey development that Ben Marshall followed through his youth. Obviously there is a lot of natural ability, what kept him busy during off season?

Not sure about the biggest hits but based on the size of the kid, Ben Marshal just laid one of the most text book hits I have ever seen and it left the Hermantown kid out of air. Wow what skating skill.

Lets see Lou or Mcgraw OR Phil thr thrill? OR Darby fulltime? He is getting good and he got a haricut!. Now when you watch him you dont feel like messing his do up. The guy I think needs to be there is Sjon Podein. Everytime he contributes to FSN or 45 he brings energy and enthusiasm and it is natur...

Yes. We try to find the right "mix" Don't let yeahyeahyeah catch wind of that, it's one of those MNH rules that some association have to follow. I apologize IM, I thought it was very well known on the board here that I am over the border here in Wisconsin, so MNH rules don't apply to us. ...

however I am pulling for the northern squads in this one! This brings up a potentially fun thread..... If a northern team is playing a metro team and you have no ties to either, who do you pull for? Being from the metro I pull for the Northern team every time. No offense to Metro kids just cheering...

Associations need coaches that believe the way to make a team better is by making the worst skater better. You know that "weakest link in the chain" theory. That old tired saying. Too bad that saying has been around longer than anyone on this board or anyone at MM. But it takes a good hea...

D6 League tournament does not apply towards their game total. Check the D6 rule book below. I'm not sure if that is the case in all districts but that is the ruling in District 6. 10.1 Tournament Participation A maximum of four tournaments within the District 6 season is allowed. Squirt C teams are...

This isn't just about hockey, it is about life lessons as well. What are these coaches telling 9-10 year old kids when they totally disregard the rules? That it is okay if you get away with it. The rule is very clear: 35 events at the squirt level and events include games, scrimmages (controlled or...

You have to forgive them; they still think that Minnesota Hockey writes rules that apply to everyone. Exactly my point, while a majority of coaches follow rules others tend to push the limits, is that fair? IS that right? You are probably right, more teams are out there are out there but I am not g...

A shootout is a quick way to reach a conclusion to a game, so the rest of the tournament games do not get behind. I forgot that all you care about is winning or losing. Tell a 10yr old goalie he is a loser after his team doesn't win the shootout. The game ended in a tie and a shootout was needed to...
