Re: U13
A U13/U11/U9 scenario would have one big problem with Minnesota Hockey with regard to the U11 age. The U11s would be generally 5th and 6th graders. The current MH and USA hockey criteria is that 4th and 5th grade is Squirt level, and there are no standings kept, no playoffs, no state tournaments, et...

Re: 6AA Round of 8
Wayzata 5, Chaska 4 Chaska led through two periods. Christina Lee scored on a PP to make it 3-3 in the third, then Wayzata got the go-ahead goal, then an empty net. Chaska scored with less than 15 seconds left to make it 5-4 and that's where it ended. Great effort by Chaska and first-year head coach...

Re: What USA Hockey insurance covers
It costs $30 per player and $25 per coach. Covers not only players and coaches but also can cover things like spectators hit by pucks too.........

Re: What USA Hockey insurance covers
The USA hockey insurance coverage is probably used more than you think. We took our daughter in to the hospital recently because she was hit in the head by a puck while on the ice with her team (with helmet on) and had concussion symptoms. She had enough symptoms that they did a CT scan, so we will ...

Re: Youth Tryouts/Numbers/Teams/Etc.
Our U12 and U14 tryouts are done. Teams started practicing already. The U10s do not finish until just before MEA. They will start practicing then. We will have a U10A, U10B, U12A, U12B, U14A, and U14B. Our U12s and U14s are a coop with neighboring associations. We should have a couple of U8 teams.<b...

Re: guiding young players through the hockey maze
Thanks for the replies so far. Would love to hear even more perspectives.

It sounds like coaching and playing time are most important, while public vs. private school, or the success of the team is less important. guiding young players through the hockey maze
How about some advice from those of you with older HS girls or those in college now?

Assume you have two 8th grade girls (friends not sisters), one skater (D) and one goalie. The HS program in the community is average at best and in a very strong section, so the future looks like the local te...
