Re: A Class All Tourney Team
I think Harrington was a freshman on Lourdes runner up in 01 and was all tourney (although i could be mistaking that for his soph year).

Always want a kid to play through his senior year but if the NTDP comes calling he would be a fool to pass it up. It's a great opportunity. I hate seeing kids leave early and am all for MNHS hockey, but what more does he have to prove? He was 3rd in scoring as a freshman and handily led the state a...

If Nelson keeps putting up the numbers like he has, I think 100 goals in a little over 2 years, do you think he passes up his linemate by the end of his HS days? Definitely. He could make a run at Hanowski's 405. Would it be asterisk like the steroid era for baseball? Being majority of the points c...

Rochester schools will never be competitive again. Their decision to go to one A bantam team ensures the demise of the programs. North St. Paul is another school that combined its youth program and will no longer be relevant either. The former coach destroyed that program. Demographics are changing...

Somebody had made a post during the section playoffs that Don Lucia was at Augsburg watching three a instead of watching six AA at Mariucci. Now we know why. Also, this is a big statement for what Outstate Minnesota can do, RochChester are you listening? Sadly Most of rochesters top end talent head...

Re: MN high schoolers on NHL All-Minnesota team
Bjugstad, Martin, Leopold, Oshie, Lee, etc., etc. they all stayed through their senior years. Interesting read about a roster of current players made up solely of guys who came up through MN youth hockey and/or played MN HS hockey: http://www.startribune.com/sports/gophers/298086851.html Surprised ...

Is anyone on here from that neck of the woods? Does Warroad get a lot of pressure to move up and if so what is there a reason they don't want to? Last 21 seasons 12 of them have had 5 or less losses. Great program, would love to see them playing with the big boys. When I lived in that area, there w...

How man kids on the New Ulm team this year were from Sleepy Eye? I don't care but just curious. I remember a kid with the nickname Bear (don't remember his real name) and a beltz kid that were good players from Sleepy Eye around the 2000 time. Also, does the Sleepy Eye rink still have the chairs fr...

I'd like to see Bemidji win 8AA too but the 1-1 tie with Warroad last night puzzles me. Having seen both Bemidji and Warroad play twice this year, Bemidji should have won by 5 or 6. Eh outshooting Warroad at the Gardens 34-13 isnt exactly a huge blemish. Always a tough place to go into and play, so...

The fifference is that duluth is declining in both population and enrollment. Rochester century opened about 15 years ago when enrollment was growing rapidly. Population growth has slowed and enrollment has stabilized, but is not go down significantly, and is likely to go up with DMC coming Given t...

In my hometown of duluth they closed central due to declining numbers. This has made the remaining schools much stronger. Maybe the day has come to close one of the big three in rochester? Probably won't happen with destination medical center coming in the near future. Enrollment has leveled off a ...

Does most of the Rochester talent usually go to Lourdes? It would seem a city with 3 high schools and a private school would end up having one team that the best players would flock to. It depends. The Chapmann kid is pretty good and goes to Lourdes but Haskins plays for Mayo and the Zmoleks play f...

Rochester hockey is in a tough place. The town is 100,000 people trying to support three AA hockey teams and one A team. They also fail to draw from their surrounding area anymore as almost all those kids end up in the Dodge County program. There are also a change in demographics based upon who Mayo...

Re: Rochester Lourdes, mayo, century, John Marshall.
I have heard a lot about seedings correlating closely with the big nine standings. That is fine but the big question is where would you seed a roch Lourdes team. record is awful, do play a tough schedule, keep every game real close when they do lose. Thoughts? Lourdes isnt in the Big 9. They're not...

I didnt mean that as a knock on Frentz at all, just that he was a pretty damn good high school player who's been slow to adjust to a league several steps below D1. Also, Nolan Schaeffer is from Marshal and playing for the Magicians as a 97 as is Chris Amsden (although he's a 94) from St. Peter. Yes ...

Also, to TheSiouxSuck don't forget rare athletes can come out of anywhere. Your own New Ulm Alumni Jamie Hoffman who grew up playing in a weak area of the State for hockey and stayed his senior year. Still was drafted in the NHL and had a full ride to CC had he decided to go that route. Great talen...

There might be some D1 potential down there, but they're still a long ways off. Derek Frentz from Mankato West put up some pretty good HS numbers against (although not as gaudy as the Luverne players) against much better competition and was taken in the firs round of the NA draft. This year he's got...

Re: Big South Conference
New Ulm, St. Peter, Marshall, Luverne, Worthington, Redwood, Fairmont, Waseca are the competitors in the Newly created Big South Conference. New Ulm and St. Peter tied as Champions of their conference last season. Luverne won its conference last year. Those three teams look to be the preseason favo...

Why is Cammaratta's name in this conversation. One player was the first overall pick, going to win the Calder, going to be the premier player of a franchise for a decade...the other will spend 3 more years at college, then 2 or3 in the AHL and then likely will surface in the NHL around 27 years old...
