Re: U13

The shift from youth to HS is a year earlier for girls than boys. U13 would make sense. U7, then U9, then U11, then U13, then U19 to capture the oldest. The U13 would be 7 and 8 graders, which is perfect. It is 6 and 7 now. U11 would be 5 and 6 graders. Not completely perfect, since most 6th are mid...

Re: WHY?

It is no secret in Wayzata that this team has peaked. Good coaches know when to make their exit. Youth program is large in numbers but not winning much. They won't contribute too much in future yrs. Lost players each year to privates and now oe too. The decline is evident.

U14 and JV

U14 is almost all 8th grade every where you look. It is just not viable, and numbers are decreasing. Almost all 9th grade go to their JV, unless you live in Edina or White Bear Lk.

Maybe we should do something radical (think outside the box) and after U12 make it just one level - U19. That i...

Re: Class of 2010 All-Star Team (8th Graders Now)

Re: Opening

From the 2005 thread "heard a prominent west metro job will be posting soon, it's sad to see that the coaching carousel will be starting soon."

that would be the coach at Wayzata hanging it up after this season, or so I heard

Re: Lakeville

There's 1-2 8th graders on a lot of varsity rosters this year that I have seen. And a few of them are 1st line players too. Why would an 8th grade goalie be too young to plaay varsity?

NDP - how are girls picked?

It is January and the minnesota selects teams are forming. for those older girls, does the ndp get started around now too?

Question, who picks the girls for NDP phase 1? Do high school coaches nominate or can youth coaches too, since some u14 could be 91's and be eligible for the 15-16 group?...

Where's the harm?

So where's the harm in discussing girl's hockey at all levels? Youth teams are producing some fine players all over the state, more of the younger girls are displacing the older on those varsity rosters each year now.

In girls they can play varsity and, yeah, they can be on the first line in ...

Re: Blake team in trouble now?

I agree it is not good to spread rumor. Reference to player removed from post.

No one I sat with knew which girls were suspended. They had been talking to Blake parents and knew there were some, the inference was made that those not there were part of the incident, but yes that may not be ac...

Chaska coach announced

One more opening filled - Andy Brink is now Chaska girl's varsity coach. Now that is an interesting choice since he has never coached either a girl or boy varsity team b4? Young guy to fill the shoes of experienced Chuck Nichols. Tryouts only three weeks away. will be fun to watch.
