A little bird told me the BantamA goalie is not playing for the 14UA.
So everyone take a deep breath.... the drama is over.
Shouldn't this be on the girls thread anyway

What's the point of the regular season if one's not rewarded for their hard work? If you had a choice of a path to the semi's would you choose... A. The Yellow Brick Road or B. Someone's backyard who owns a St. Bernard. The problem is there are too many teams being rewarded to play in this tournamen...

Anyone that is interested, please go to the district 10 website and click tournaments, then check out the Bantam A/AA bracket. Talk about a complete CF. #1AA most likley plays #5AA first game #2AA most likely plays #6AA first game #1A(seeded with a bye for winning district... what a joke) most likel...

To clarify, I'm only talking of youth hockey. There is usually a dramatic separation of physical abilities by the time HS comes around in all sports. There is always an exception to the rule in regards to special athletes though. I don't think the BP little league team minded having Krissy on their ...

Devil's advocate here. Seems we have a few people here that need a little diversity training,(won't name names, you know who you are). Things might be seen differently if your little Johnny was a little Jane and you were just looking to get your kid the best level of play and the best coaching.

Last year's #'s are meaningless. This rule did not apply last year. Like I said before, lots of actions have unintended consequences. Time will tell on this one

I was thinking along the same line as Fred. Sure you're kid might never develop past a B1 player, but I'm sure growing up playing the team game of hockey, your son or daughter learned a lot of great life and character building lessons. I'm sure your son is a better person today, not only because he ...

Dark, I don't think what's best for the kids is the issue- of course we all want that. It's the path we take to get there is the issue. Fred is a passionate hockey guy that's just giving us some info to chew on. (thanks, Fred). These studies are ok but not something to go all in on. Do the global wa...

Skills, this does all boil down to a few people in power with agenda's to steer the direction of hockey to the way they feel it should be played. Your statement reminds me exactly what Pelosi said, "we have to pass the bill to see what's in the bill". So we're supposed to just put our fait...

skills, no misconception, USAH is proposing a major rule change that will really impact youth hockey. You are right, coaching at the youth level has absolutely dropped the ball on teaching proper checking tecniques to the kids, and this is where the problem lies. Many people have said this and I agr...

Dark, Muck stole my thunder. The rules are on the books and enforcement is the answer. Checking forces kids to keep their head up and pass the puck. No offense intended but your replies seem more like there coming from the USAH handbook than practical experience. To me this whole thing is about numb...

I asked this question on another thread and it killed it, so I'll kindly ask again. Could someone who favors this change please explain why this similar rule change failed in the 80's and why does USAH think its going to work today. Thanks

Could not agree with you more Fred. We should do our own thing. This whole thing reeks and really reminds me of how OC was shoved down our throats. You brought up the term "agenda", beware of people with agendas.

I oppose the rule change. Seems like a no-brainer to me to teach squirts the proper techniques of checking,( age appropriate of course-i.e. rubbing out, angling etc.) in practices to prepare them better for peewees. Most of the kids at this level are the same size and weight. Checking is a fundament...

Girls Playing On Boys Teams

I wanted to throw this topic out for discussion. I know this is prominently a boys forum, but would appreciate honest opinions from both sides of the fence. The angle I'm looking at is individual girl player development with boys versus not playing with girl team, thus hurting team/association devel...
