Is it ever a good idea? It used to be not that uncommon. Saterdalen, Osiecki, Ikola, Gernander, and Randolph all coached their sons at some point. I'm sure there are other examples. Game over. After one more OT of 5 on 5, they played two OTs of 3 on 3. Still tied at 1-1, they did go to a shootout, which went six rounds, where Cottage Grove came out on top.

3 periods, 13 overtimes and a six round shootout. Wow!

EDIT: It is a "Loser Out" game in Districts, so the loser's season is done. I understand why they want to settle it on the ice.
