There are a couple of ways to look at this. Maybe this will answer the question. If not, let me know what isn't clear and I can try to be more clear. First off, the goalies are the most padded players on the ice, so a little stick tap or otherwise the goalies don't even feel. If the goalie catches t...

It's funny when programs like Edina & Wayzata and this year Elk River put 2 teams in State and no one complains. But the RAVE who only had 20 kids at tryouts and they should play A!!! I think wayzata had 3 teams. not that it matters. When it comes to who plays A. i think some associations are &...

Re: Bench Clearing Brawl

What was the big scrum about after the consolation game between Tonka and Wayzata A on Sunday during the state tournament? Lots of rumors flying around about coaches being hit, etc. It appeared that a Wayzata player pushed the Tonka goalie as Tonka was heading to the goalie to celebrate. Just boile...

Re: Championship Game

Two amazing teams, indeed. The 4th overtime w/o goalies, definitely should be changed to a shoot out format in the future. The deciding factor for the game was winning the faceoff, maintaning posession and control, and making the goal "inside the blueline" as the teams were directed. Long...

Woodbury with an A team, that is good news. But lakeville dropping theirs, that's not. Low numbers or frustrated? no why would they frustrated? its low numbers this year That's why I asked if there were low number or if they were frustrated. I think I heard that Edina was thinking about 2 a teams, ...

Most people dont want to travel 2.5 hours to watch a game or two, then stay in a hotel room to watch a couple more games.

edina was slow to start and put 2 in back to back in the 3rd to seal the deal. Lakeville held with Edina until the third, then they fell apart. Wayzata came out on fire and died off late in the first and came back strong out of the locker room for the third. Good luck to the trojans at state. WBL pl...

Hate to say I told you so, but slp is playing some damn good hockey right now. Locked the m1 spot scoring 10 goals and only letting up 2. And no I'm not from or a fan of slp, but they have seemed to have figure it out at the right time. I agree and am in the same boat as you. Of the 6/7 games i wat...

the turning point was when the first player got tossed. Seemed like Wayzata lost it at that point. Gave up a couple breakaways.

SLP played a great game which is what you need this time of the year.

great game between wbl and stillwater, but WBL takes them in overtime.

Wayzata played poor hockey and SLP was taking shots and had the odd-man rushes.

Slp goes to state as #1 and wayzata has to play tomorrow.

this may be a great game to go watch. I think lakeville will take it 4-2 Lakeville is one of the worst teams in goals against (3.66), and goals for (2.63), while SLP is one of the top goal scoring teams (4.04-good for 3rd in metro). And just last month they beat Lakeville 8-5 and 9-3, I think this ...

I'm no expert, but statistics show hockey isn't even in the top ten for sports related injuries in the US. I don't think that means we shouldn't continue to make the game safer, but considering more people get hurt riding bikes, jumping on trampolines and sledding (just to name a few), it's a prett...

LOL

Its all in how they attempt the game to be clean and people to not get hurt. But really? Its a physical sport, people are going to get hurt.

Finally, we need to go back to the 2:00 minor penalty and stop rewarding goon teams. My understanding of this was that players were spending too much time in the penalty box. 15:00 is to 20:00 as 1:30 is to 2:00. Think about it. Your spending 1/10th of the period in the penalty box. Doesnt that see...

I am lead to believe that the HEP point is to "control the game" If teams are allowed 7 penalties. 7 x 90 is 630 seconds of penalties. Or 10 minutes and 30 seconds. That is 23% of the game. Now if you are in the penalty box for 25% of the game i believe that you should lose a point. Alot o...

Looks like tonka is 1 point ahead of wayzata, but wayzata has two games left to play. With Wayzata's track record of FPP's, it shouldnt be an issue. They play Edina tonight and not sure what/when their last game is. Going to be Eden Prairie in 3rd Edina - 4th 5/6 toss up with Burnsville/Lakeville 7-...

JGA Regions/State

Who will be one of the top teams to get beat by an underdog?

With Wayzata and Minnetonka with so many wins, will it be them.

It will be an interesting tourney

going to be a tight race for the top spot. The top 2 will remain the top 2 unless some FPP's are lost

Edina, Wayzata, Minnetonka.

They have the fewest goals allowed, so their goaltending must be solid
