Re: Any scores

HM 7 Mounds View 0 The score was expected - but I think Godbout was back for Hill. He got hurt against Duluth East at the end of January and hadn't played since. Overheard his gramps at Aldrich during that game say he'd be out 4-6 weeks. If he did return against MV (he didn't register a pt, and I di...

Re: AA Rankings for 2/1/26

In case anyone was planning to watch Maple Grove vs. Hill Murray on Tuesday at Aldrich, the game has been re-scheduled due to Precinct Caucuses in Minnespta. I heard the game was going to be played on Thursday at 4:00 at Maple Grove, but have not confirmed that. WTH? Crud. Update: The game will be ...

Re: AA Rankings for 1/25/26

I'm tempted to head down to Aldrich on my last day in town. I haven't seen a good HM v East matchup in many a moon. Anyone else going? Of course, I'm also tempted by Centennial and HM in girl's, which is a #1 v #2 matchup tonight up in Lino Lakes. Dang, sorry Spar. I was there but didn’t see your m...

Re: AA Rankings for 1/25/26

EP is lethal on the powerplay this year. They're scoring at like a 36% clip on powerplays. I don't know that another team in the state is that successful with a man advantage.

Re: AA Rankings for 1/25/26

Last thing I'll say about Hill's penalty kills. This is the first season in a while where I dread seeing them take a penalty. Good teams seem to torch them. A couple of games that stood out for me where opposing teams badly hurt Hill on the PP Eden Prairie 3 for 4 STA 2 for 2 Grand Rapids 2 for 3 Th...

Re: AA Rankings for 1/25/26

The STA vs Rockridge result should be treated as a scrimmage. It tells us little to nothing of consequence. The HM vs Stillwater game was more entertaining than I had hoped. Of course when Stillwater scored early on the PP they acted like it was a state tournament game because, hey, we scored on Hi...

Re: AA Rankings for 12/28/25

I'm pretty good with Hill at #7 Regardless of circumstance, you can't lose to an unranked Holy Family team and expect not to get dinged. This week will tell us a lot about the top teams. Moorhead, STA, Stillwater, Edina, Shakopee & Rogers all have tough games, mostly because of the Tradition Hol...

Re: AA Rankings for 12/21/25

Hill Murray just lost to Holy Family, 3-2. Yikes. And then they beat Edina. Make it make sense. Hill dominated play against Holy Family. 57 shots. Reminds me of a couple years ago when Two Rivers beat them. It was a similar type game. For whatever reason, Hill’s top line- where you figured most of ...

Re: Games 12/6

Hill 1 Rogers 0 Final. I really can't put my finger on this Hill team through 4 games. The concerning: there's been a bit of a power outage on offense the last 3 games. The promising: the D seems locked in and Hanggi is looking good. The good: they don't have a loss. The bad: I haven't felt like any...

Re: Games 11/25

I wouldn't read too much into the Hill EP game. Eden Prairie scored 3 goals on the powerplay, which is impressive. Nothing wrong with getting a little penalty killing experience early in the season if you're Hill. I remember reading that EP has a few freshman on the varsity squad. Will be interesti...

Does that mean there will be no advertising inside the new UST Lee and Penny Anderson Arena?
I kindly doubt it. Gonna need that NIL money....

I don't think HS hockey in Minnesota has faded in popularity. Arenas are still packed for big games, there is excitement and people seem to be engaged. What does seem to have faded in popularity is bantering with strangers about it. I do feel like there's just a desire to consume content rather tha...

I still enjoy this place. I follow quite a few people on twitter - but it isn't the same. It's mostly just someone posting, getting a couple of likes and then one person responding with a 5 word comment. I prefer the ability to have a more thoughtful discussion - but I guess attention spans aren't w...

Kennedy ends their program with a 13-1 loss. Thanks for the memories (particularly of the 1980s), Kennedy. Oit with a whimper. That '87 team was really something. I assume they will join a co-op? I thought I read somewhere that players would effectively join the Bloomington Jefferson team. They do ...

I give HM a lot of credit for not giving up in the 3rd when they were down 7-4. They took their play up a level and the Spuds didn't respond. Personally, I think Ammerman got outcoached by Lechner. But Lechner outcoaches a lot of other coaches. Congrats to the Pioneers on a crazy win. If it’s any c...
