Congrats to MN players

Great start by MN 2012 recruits in the WCHA and Hockey East. Not a surprise based on their HS careers. Many other recruits are playing exceptionally well but don't show up on the stat sheet. WCHA: Hannah Brandt is averaging 3.0 pts/game through first 8 games and is 2nd in goals and scoring and tied ...

IMHO if your daughter is on a track to play past high school then the High Performance camp is important exposure if she can make it to the final 54. There are more scouts from a wider range of colleges in both DI-DIII. The Jr festival is also scouted but to a lesser degree and well run. It's a grea...

That's a quality list: 10 known D-I commits in class A and 9 in class AA. Regardless of how long the list is, there will be disputes on the second tier of players as it's hard to differentiate. I know the coaches spend a great deal of time working through this and though not perfect, there are some ...

I thought we saw her sit a couple of shifts but would agree with the TV timeouts as allowing her to stay out. She may be the only player in the state that could do that effectively not only because of her strength but because of skill in orchestrating the puck out of the zone. Her poise with the puc...

All good comments above and as a fan, coach, and parent, I enjoy the X for it's comforts. I have asked a couple groups of players that have gone through the tourney and played in both venues. The answers are pretty similar. Love the X for the space, food and chance to spread out with classmates and ...

Yes, Brandt is reportedly the top rated forward for her age in North America just not MN. Also, as far as all of the posts about "respect" In my experience, the girls rarely care about rankings or what other people outside of their community think. They just want to play and beat their imm...

Congrats to both teams. Sounds like the game could have gone either way. Hockeys' a passionate sport and sometimes parents/fans forget it's about the kids. I am sure an isolated event since their are lots of good supportive hockey people in both communities. Best of luck at state Hutch and now that ...

These choices have to be tough and you always hope there is some separation between players so it's a little easier to choose. I have to agree with your assessment though on the Andover goalie. I was looking at these numbers the other day and then talked to some people that watched that conference a...

Great list. Congratulations ladies, especially with the GPA's. It's always hard to balance sports with school and extracurriculars but for these high achievers it speaks to their focus and understanding of the importance that education will play when hockey is finally over. Best of luck to everyone'...

This yrs Ntl class was expected to be lower in total do to fewer SR's graduating. It might actually be skewed larger right now because of Penn State filling an entire roster. I believe there are 23 known MN so far which is consistent with what coaches were saying last spring in approx 25 MN getting ...

looks like Brandt, Carlson Steckleinn, Illikanien, and Hanson were missing. Five committed players so that had to have some impact. Still a strong squad with 11 Whitecaps players committed to D-1 schools so far.

I have heard they start with National camp attendees over the past 3 years or grades 10-12 so that could be as many as 50+ players though not all participate. They have a try-out for the balance of rostered players plus substitutes for players that need to miss a weekend. I hear this 2nd hand so not...

The Whitecap 17's must be playing up this yr. They are very talented. Good luck MN teams. It will be interesting to watch the impact of the '11-12 class. It is so large and diverse across all conferences. If these girls have a positive impact on those teams, that could increase the total number of teams that feel they need MN talent. Good luck girls.

Looks like Providence, Syracuse, and Connecticut have also stepped up their efforts as well as UNH. So far 4 of 5 top fwds have gone east. Those are great hockey and educational opportunities for these girls and it may not be long before Hockey East and ECAC reach parity with WCHA. I wonder if this ...

I believe all players, committed or not, are required to try out and the fees are the same for everyone. As far as why an already committed player would play I guess it would be because they are either supporting the event, want to play with their peers, or just want to play knowing that everyone ha...

Re: Juniorfest 2011

quote] My daughter participated last year. Overall a positive experience. She did have a couple D1 committed players on her team. One committed player wanted everyone to see her. Never passed, never talked, didn't work at the defensive end, but had no issues going to the goal. Even their team coach ...
