Section 3A Action Hutch wins big over LDC. The Tigers were dominate all night. They held a big shot shot advantage and they continue to get better goaltending. Tigers took a big step closer to showing they getting better which makes them scary. Marshall wins their 7th in a row over Morris Benson to...

you should be happy i put some common sense in your mouth. playing at a level in which you are not competitive is not going to make you better. hockeytalk your right dumping the puck isnt a bad play if it has purpose behind it. your playing against a buzz saw team that has more skill than you i wou...

Re: small towns who dont have the talent wanting to play a?
playing at the level you can compete never ends, its where you belong. With time if the kids have the motivation, they will get better and play at higher level IF THEY CAN COMPETE. If you only win half the games at the C level than that's probably where you should be playing at. What do you define ...

Re: small towns who dont have the talent wanting to play a?
all the years i have been around youth hockey i have lived in a small town, i dont understand these coaches who say we have to play a when we dont have the talent to even be on the same ice as these bigger towns who play a they say that will make the kids better but i strongly disagree im assuming ...

I think you need to go easy on this move. I do not have a dog in the fight so don't really care one way or the other but I also do not want to see you walk into a buzz saw either. First off make sure that you understand what association hockey is all about. When you make the move and buy a house yo...

thanks! yeah its hassle not only for the teams who have to play them but for the parents and coaches who insist they need to play A. they really think the kids are going to get better playing A when they dont have the talent to compete at that level. how are the kids supposed to get any better when...

Sections are realigned every two years. We just finished the first year with the current sections. The only changes for next year will be for any new programs (not aware of any), folding programs (North Metro), or newly paired programs where a change in section is necessary (not aware of any). In O...

I do not discount or want to talk down to any league that helps a kid get an education. That being said off of a low number of 1920 kids that have played in the MJ since 2000 about 200+ have made it to D3. That is right around 10%. In one year alone NAHL has put 94 out of 644 to D1 schools. That is...

The MSHL has come in and circumvented a legislated right which will never hold up in court. Not to mention US constitutional rights of freedom of religion. Yeah, because playing varsity hockey in Minnesota is a form of religious expression.....can I get an amen! That is really funny. You are really...

Josh- I find your enthusiasm and open-minded attitude very inviting. Any information that will possibly HELP my child reach his full potential (wherever that leads) without killing his passion is welcome. Although I will be in Alex on Saturday, I'd be interested in your seminar. Will you be doing an...

Depends on what his intentions and wishes are, duh! Plenty of kids set their sights on making the HS varsity team, and if possible making it to state. And that's enough for them -- and they can play hockey the rest of their lives in any case. If the kid has skills and passion to play at a higher le...

I agree about the training at 100%. Less then that and skill development, is minimal. If you can teach players to push past their comfort zone and can teach intensity, then you have a product. This is where I think parents mess up. When the parent's intensity is higher then the player's. When my ki...

Committed Parents are the #1 key I disagree actually. Committed parents often ruin hockey careers, especially in Minnesota. I'd say that instead of having committed parents, a more important ingredient would be having a passionate and committed player. Spending more money on camps or training sessi...

Yes, if he is good enough. Coming out of 3A is like playing C hockey. A good bantam A team could probably take that section. From my point of view the whole state is ripe for more Juniors opportunities. Lots of good players are stranded on sucky teams. Lets copy Canada. More games and a longer seaso...

 Great thread. I enjoyed reading all the posts. Now I'll throw in my opinion. I like the 16 team idea and one champion. However to create a more geographically diverse A and AA tournament, I favor team conglomerates and freedom of the individual player to go anywhere he/she can make the team. I...

Depends on the District. I know that District 10 will only allow Bantam A players to tryout for the Select 15's....some smaller Districts have been known to allow B1 players. You need to remember that you have to limit the # of players on the ice. You can't have ~70 players on one sheet of ice tryi...
