going by grade in our system is fine, just wish it was only one grade per level like most other youth sports. Can be up to 3 different birth years in our system and that is too much variance to lump together.

Losing that many games does not make for a fun year. It might be fun for their opponents that are used to getting thumped by Wayzata. Wayzata may have players quit at year end and try something else.

According to their website, they only have two Bantam Teams, one B1 and one B2. B1's are 17-5-1 and B2's are 6-4-3. This assocation placed their teams at the proper levels.

That Edina Peewee group is an anomaly, wouldn't change the whole system because of one group. (even if everything revolves around Edina :D) new system appears to be working for Edina Bantams and other mega's various levels.
