The "break" is that Edina doesn't need to play competition like BSM, Wayzata, Mtnka, AND Eden Prairie ever year to make it to state. Can you say re-district!

Remember the good old days when district playoffs actually meant something...? There are still district playoffs happening ... but the assumed 'automatic bids' should all be top 24 teams anyways. To my knowledge, only D6/3 (shared schedule) is not having districts. Districts having them: 2 ( ? ) .....

Thoughts: Maybe all 10 of the D6 schedule teams make the final 24 in the metro. Only Chaska looking in from the cold. But I have a feeling they're more battle-ready than LV South/Andover/Roseville/Rosemount ... they may get the nod. The other 9 teams should be no-brainers. (5 in the top 9) As much ...

2000 and 2001 are apart of the HP-14 program this year. Tryouts are by district in the Spring (already occurred) and training & a festival are in September. 2000's are apart of HP-15 next year, which is a completely different program setup.

Looks like Wayzata BAN B1 took 1st and 3rd at State last year.... Assume that means there is some depth to ease the loss of two to HS. Edina may have a harder time losing 6-7 as YHH predicts.

Other confirmed losses to HS for this upcoming season?

YHH reported today in their notes section that Edina BAA could lose 6-7 this year. That's a lot of talent. Good point regarding the 1st years making the adjustment... Size matters at that level.

Any of the 2nd year Bantam hornets expected to play HS... Or will they all be back to run the table again this Winter?

Hard to know what the BAA teams will look like until you know/confirm the associations that are losing top player(s) to privates and HS teams. Any confirmed player "loses" from the top teams that were PWAA a couple years ago?

I'll bite

Ok, I'll bite. This years STMA group made the state tourney as Peewee AA. Unless they lose several players to JV or varsity... They should be good (and BIG if I recall correctly).

Congratulations to Highland for winning the Bantam A state title. They beat two mega assoc in Edina and Wayzata. Wayzata out shot them 25-12 and carried most of the play in the championship... The Highland goalie was a difference maker. Though a team effort for sure! Highland is a smaller assoc and ...

I am from D3, but was talking to a bantam A father who won up "north" last weekend. I shared the open letter above with him. He understood, but pointed out that the two metro teams that moved on could make the same argument... They rarely make it to state because they always need to go thr...

A blog from Youth HockeyHub: The Minnesota state tournaments have been drawing winners for a long, long time. Many of them been won by the well known, always a top team, Edina Hornets, the team for most teams to beat in Minnesota. The other years that are not won by the Hornets is usually won by a d...

Thank you guys.... All good points. In the end there will be teams disappointed in not making it to state. I suspect in a typical season there maybe 2-3 teams that stand above all the others. Then there are 10-15 teams that on any given night could win or lose versus the others. That leaves a lot of...

PuckRanger, I understand your point, but I disagree. You want to mandate geographic diversity for the final eight teams at each level. I prefer providing equal opportunities (via district and "regional" tournaments) to all teams regardless of location to earn their way into the final 8. Th...

Everyone IS involved and some teams lost. Funny thing is that these are double elim district and regional tournaments... So plenty of opportunity for EVERYONE. Nope. You're comparing Districts and "Regions" to a state tournament. Being involved in "Regions" is not the same as be...

Orono and Wayzata move on from D3 to Regions. Mound/Westonka and Delano are fighting for the third spot to Regions at Bantam A. I agree D3 will advance the two teams from South Regions to the Bantam A state tournament. I believe there are two more teams fighting for that spot too. Minneapolis and O...

D3 Bantam A Parity

Orono and Wayzata move on from D3 to Regions. Mound/Westonka and Delano are fighting for the third spot to Regions at Bantam A. I thought this was pretty cool... of the 8 D3 playoff games played at Bantam A level so far, 5 have gone to OT. Of those 5 OT games... 3 have been tripple OT, 1 double OT,...

I heard there were some rough games this weekend... some ejections and injuries. Anyone with information from games on what happened to cause the ejections and injuries? Fair play or cheap play?
