Thoughts:
Maybe all 10 of the D6 schedule teams make the final 24 in the metro. Only Chaska looking in from the cold. But I have a feeling they're more battle-ready than LV South/Andover/Roseville/Rosemount ... they may get the nod. The other 9 teams should be no-brainers. (5 in the top 9)

As much as I hate to say it ... you have to hand it to Edina this year. They lost some big games (Hello Jefferson), but no other team in state (Moorhead? Centennial?) could have come out of schedule as well as they did. Where would Elk River / Grand Rapids / STMA be if they played 18 district 6 games? Most likely right around where Maple Grove and Jefferson are.

Regardless, it's still Centennial Vs Edina in my world.

Depending on seeding look out for Tonka, Wayzata, Sibley, and Jefferson to make some serious noise in regions.

I would say both Stillwater and Chaska Chan have played way harder schedules than the 4 or 5 teams ahead of them and should get significant consideration for the last spot or two.

Stillwater finished well above LVS (who only had 3 wins in their entire d8 schedule... ponies finished above .500 and above Rosemount, WBL, LVS and even in wins with Eastview who are all shown as in...).

The ponies played as hard a schedule as anyone in the state.

CC played a D6 schedule which is obviously very hard. Stillwater also tied and beat all OMG, Jefferson WBL and Rochester...

Roseville, LVS and Andover had brutal schedules. More than 3/4th of Rosevilles wins are against single A teams and teams not even in consideration for for the AA tourney. They may be on the chopping block over CC or Stillwater.

If Andover, LVS and Rosevillle lose their next game I would not be surprised if Stillwater or CC slip into those spots. If those teams can pull out a win here at the end and extend their playoff schedule they might nold on.

It will really depend on how the committee looks at strength of schedule and if they take into account the D8 League standing for LVS.

Interesting stuff.

With all said above about the bottom of the bracket.

Centennial is by far odds on favorite to win IMO...best team I have seen by far.

Last year Stillwater, EP, and ER were well above rest and GR ended up winning it with Stellar goal tending in the state tourney...is there a goalie who can steal the show this year? or will Centennial live up to their billing?

There are still district playoffs happening ... but the assumed 'automatic bids' should all be top 24 teams anyways. To my knowledge, only D6/3 (shared schedule) is not having districts.

Districts having them:
2 ( ? ) ... WBL favored
5 (one team) ... STMA favored
10 ( ? top 2 ?) ... Centennial and Elk River favored
8 (one team) ... Sibley favored

No:
6
9

Soooo ... do they matter? Only if a seemingly large upset takes place.

D2 AABantam Forest Lake is playing WBL for champ.

Roseville /Stillwater both lost to FL.

Forest Lake beat Roseville twice.

Take a look at FL's schedule compared to Roseville's.

Agree 100% on Centennial, they are the team to beat... Have been consistently good all year. Besides them beating Edina twice, Wayzata has the only other winning record against Edina with two dominant wins and a 1 goal loss that was a coin flip game. There are other teams that will compete on the same level as Edina.

D3 is had a district tourney this week between the 4 AA teams. Wayzata won and OMG vs MPls for 2nd place. Not much meaning for regions. Oddly D6 does nothing.

So FL could be the exception here. Take care of business and you're in.

I'm sure OG will be there pounding the glass for them, beat 'dem Bears!

*Stack your schedule with easier A teams and you receive auto bid because of better record!!

Just a personal note for next year..

There's no way to really rank teams off of playing teams of a lower level..

Probably not gunna happen.

But why not have 21-24 play the 25-28 teams for the final 4 spots?

Nice job for Forest Lake!

Pulled out a tight one against Stillwater then took care of business in the last 2 games vs. Roseville and WBL playing as well as they can play. Came to play at the end of the year.

Agree on the play in for the last 8 teams or so...just makes sense.

FL get Cenn. First round of both [south region/VFW] tourneys. I don't understand Roseville's high ranking. :-({|=

That's what you get for beating White Bear.

I think WBL is too high as well ... for my taste.
