Rosemount EP and Burnsville!!!

I am obviously prejudiced but I like the group of kids at Rosemount. I've watched that group since they were tots and they're all money players. Ricky Saintey did a fabulous job with them as youth players and they won the VFW Bantam State before they moved on to HS. Coach Micheletti and staff couldn...

Re: Jeff v Rosemount

Rosemount beat Jefferson back in 94 or 95 under Eigner and I believe they've tied them once along the way. They've had many close games, a few OTs and many blowouts. I hate to admit it but BJ has definitely dominated the Irish since the beginning of time.

Re: top returning goalies

Exactly what I'm talking about. Guy has great, stats and consistently makes save after save, but can't and I mean can't make "the" save when the game is on the line. Saw it game after game last year. Goalie averages in the mid nineties in save % and then let's soft goals in with under 2 mi...

Re: top returning goalies

Stats are great for those who love stats. But when the game is on the line who's going to make the big saves? You can interpret all the stats you want but I'll take the "Money" goalie on my team any day!!!!! And there are a few goalies in everyone's top ten with great stats, but they have ...

Re: Rosemount

I was thinking it was 93 or 94 but now that you mentioned it, 97 sounds correct. Yes they have been much more successful overall than Rosemount in most sports, but RSMT is beginning to get back to full strength.

Re: history

Diskman:
You're probably right on the loss of students. I was just going by what I heard. I know Rosemount was overcrowded and caught the brunt of EV opening and drawing students. I also know that the start of the Ev youth association was not necessary but it descimated the Rosmount assocation an...

Re: AV?

Actually guys Eastview is between Rosemount and AV and both high schools lost 1,000+ students overnight to EV. I believe back in 93 or 94 when it happened the seniors were given the option of staying at AV/Rsmt or moving to EV. Some students had no choice other than open enrollment. So that is a big...

Re: AV?

Yeh I know a little bit of the underclassmen, having been on the ice with them during various clinics the past several years. I watched them as Squirts, PeeWees and Bantams. The whole group was/is outstanding. Of course I would give a lot of the credit to old man Saintey (Rick) as he coached that gr...

Re: AV?

NPGandyDancer: I can give you an update although there's a thread out there somewhere that probably has more info. Coach Micheletti resigned about a month ago and Scott Macho was named as the new head coach (I believe he was an assistant at St. Olaf Men's last year). He did not retain the services o...

Re: AV?

Also remember a few years back (maybe more than a few) when AV won the title. They did it with a great defense and timely scoring from some real lunch pail kind of forwards (Sikich sp? to name one). Their forwards were not flashy, but they worked their cans off and always seemed to find the net at t...

Re: AV?

Hey .500 in the Lake conference isn't too bad. Could gat a team a top seed in the Sectionals as the Lake Loses EP, Jefferson, Lakeville (both), Chaska when it comes to Sections, however they do pick up Holy Angels.
The Lake is the best Conference in HS Hockey year in and year out, so I'd take .5...

Re: all commenters

Hi All:
I'm also from the private school sector when the Independent schools played a separate state tournament and I used to love the separate tourneys. I could travel to Duluth for the Private school tourney and then head down to the old St Paul auditorium for the Public School tourney. The bat...

Re: Kodiak

For being new to the community you've got a pretty good read on Rosemount. I will correct you on one item though, Coach Mick did not kick Conboy off the team. Conboy was benched a few times for excessive penalties, and had to sit a couple games out because of game ejections, and was kicked off the i...

Re: Penalties

Hey thanks for setting me straight. I guess my obvious dislike for the prior 2 head coaches blanked out my memory. I do remember the OT win against Burnsville after you mentioned it. Still don't remember the 3 in a row with Eigner though. You brought up a few more names from Rosemount's past though,...

sick:
You're the one that needs to get facts straight. Your friend is wrong. I watched every Irish game for the past 10 or 12 years and had a few sons in the mix. The last 2 years Hoekstra had the team they won zero conference games. In fact I can't remember a Lake conference win under Hoekstra, ...

Re: Sickof......

Rosemount may not churn out a lot of D1 players but they've had a few over the years. And every year they seem to place 1 or 2 in the D3 ranks at St. Thomas, Bethel, Augsburg, etc. And that ain't bad hockey either. When the Jr. College league (Community College) was running there were several every ...

Re: Shutout

Hey guys, speculate on. No one is talking, not even the "insiders". The Rosemount youth association had its tryouts last week and it was all the buzz. Coach Micheletti and all of his assistants (present/former?) were in attendance (watching their own kids or helping with evaluations) and t...

Re: Micheletti

I believe his replacement is Scott Macho. Don't know much about him. Apparently he's a teacher at the school and was a Coach at St. Olaf College the past few years. He was added to Don's staff this past summer. That's about all that's known in the community right now.

Matt did a nice job between the pipes for the Irish. Could have been a banner year for Rosemount. Regardless of what's been said about him, he will be sorely missed for more than his goaltending ability.

Re: Micheletti

It's not a rumor. Don's gone and his replacement has been named. Hate to see him go. He may not have been popular with the parents but he cleaned up a trashy program and made it competitive. This year's team would have been fun to watch and may have done some damage in the Lake conference. Yes I kno...
