"Ridiculous"? I'm sick of the city-its whining about the lack of more metro teams in the tournament. Wah,wah, wah. The tournament is about geographic inclusiveness. NO different than any other sport having divisions. Is it "fair" the Seahawks and 49er...

Another way to create more interest in the girls state tournament: Fix the sections or reformat the playoffs so that you actually have the best teams in the state playing. It is ridiculous that Minnetonka, Benilde, Wayzata, Hopkins, and Maple Grove are in the same section. The first 4 have been 4 of...
The best 2 teams in the state for 14U A played on Friday.
I'm thinking Osseo Maple Grove might have something to say about that as they find a place in their trophy case for the championship hardware. :D They are the only team to have beaten Edina this year, and ...

I agree that the pools are set up poorly. It seems every year that the Duluth tournament organizers figure out a way to ensure that the top teams in the tournament cannot possibly meet in the championship round. Once is a coincidence. Every year is purposeful. Let's Play Hockey rankings aren't alway...

Thank you, greenhockeymom, for unwittingly validating all of our experiences with the Edina parents and players. We know where the players get it, but we all already knew that long before you just proved it. To help you understand one more time: It's not the fact that Edina wins alot that causes oth...
Couple points: The BSM JV isn't off the chart awesome. They're real young and small The Edina JV would, in fact, beat the 14U team. Most of the Edina JV played on that same 14U team and now they're bigger and faster. I'm sure the Edina U14 team really enjoys winning a...

From my experiences, the hierarchy of the levels skill-wise is this: Varsity U14 Upper A JV U14 Lower A / B Would anyone deny that? Thus if your goal is to play at the highest skill-level possible, and you are not Varsity-caliber, play ...
Not always true. On good varsity teams, there are only so many spots. They are senior and junior heavy, and sophomores and freshmen have very little shot at playing varsity, unless they are exceptional. On our team, none of last year's incoming freshmen or sophs co...

U14 hockey, at least for AA programs, is head and tails about JV. Upper U14A teams would kick the snot out of most JV teams (save for maybe the likes of Benilde). Go to an average JV hockey game and watch for yourself. JV hockey is nothing like varsity hockey. JV is terrible hockey played by players...
[i]Teenagers don't behave? I am shocked, absolutely shocked to hear this. Some facts: The coach you accused of this behavior last year is still coaching 12U. You can't blame this year, whatever happened, on him. And having a daughter who played for him, he has never...
