Re: Albert Lea

IMHO Two factors:

1) No one was going to catch M/L, so a Big 9 title was out. This freed the coaches to experiment with different player combinations. The only important consideration was to get 2, 3, 6 or 7 seed and be out of New Prague's bracket but get a first (and preferably second) round...

Kudos to Coach Falk of Albert Lea and Coach Sipe of West for showing restraint and sportsmanship. Each team could have easily run up their respective scores into double digits against weak opponents, but instead the coaches benched their big guns.

Senior Laura Hillman (AL) also showed great m...

Re: AL v. Roch M/L

In this game, defense will be the key- especially for the Tigers. Assuming Olchefske is between the pipes (and doesn't go cold) and the defense can keep SOG at 32 or below, Albert Lea can pull off a 3-2 upset. The first 5 minutes will be critical; AL has to come out strong and focused at each positi...

Blowouts (and this discussion) are not unique to hockey- it cuts across every sport.

Unfortunately, it is not an ethical issue either. Austin has the best chance to up end M/L. Austin will have a 5 day break after facing East. Mayo will have 3 days rest after facing Albert Lea. Re: Austin vs. Albert Lea

Albert Lea could be a sleeper team. New coach (Falk) was boy's assistant coach for several years under Nystrom. After dropping first two to Farmington and Mayo, AL has gone 4-0-1. Gave up 2-18 goal differential in the first two games but 21-10 in the last 5. Tough games ahead, but Tigers may finish ...
