how about the hockey side
Supply side, demand side,......how about the hockey side. This came to mind while walking (doing my part to reduce demand) to meet my daughter after her work. If the current inflated oil price were a hockey game, it may be described as follows. Neut and his team of "tree huggers" are prese...

The demand side,.....for Angus
Angus, we have been "thinking of ways" to reduce demand for at least 30 years. So far we have come up with by government subsidy and incentives,......a few windmills,......tiny cars,......planting, growing, harvesting, and processing food as a filler in our fuel, etc. All of these (and oth...

supply,.....not ownership
Neut is right in that it is not about ownership ("our own oil"), but it is certainly about supply. Since we use most of the oil, isn't it logical we should help increase supply,.....rather than crawl on our hands and knees to beg OPEC to increase supply. Neuts real buddys, in his own words...

"If we had more of our own" oil, wouldn't the price drop because there would be more supply of oil? What does "patriotism" have to do with it? Can anything ever be sold at "below market rates"? Isn't the market rate,......the market rate? It is, what it is. It is very n...

What if.....
What if ALL countries outside the US stopped supplying ANY oil? Would we drill/refine more of our own, then? The great USA, at the economic mercy of Mexico, Canada, Norway,......Russia, Iran, and Saudia Arabia. How did this happen? Sure we can get scooters, "smart cars", bikes, and even wa...

Please don't shoot.
Pretty dark post by the demon. Shooting each other over gas? The demon's post suggests that our government is mommy, and if she takes care of us kids by providing "low fuel and food prices", then we will be good and not kick and scream. :) Actually, we are all grown up now, and can take ca...

We are to blame.
CNT, totally agree with your last sentence. However, just as corporations are not their own entity (they are the employees),......our government is not its own entity, it is us. We are responsible by allowing it to happen. Sure many of the super wealthy are on the "environmental bandwagon"...

Right on Oldtimer. Higher costs would be a little more acceptible, if we had no oil. We have oil in the Gulf of Mexico, Alaska, and even Western North Dakota, for cying-out-loud. Get it out of the ground, refine it, use it, and sell it around the world. If a leader in this country would make a commi...

Price of gas
The price of oil/gas will continue to rise until our leaders (i.e. us) realize that "environmental protection" is a hoax, and not worth the price we are paying for it. If our country would promote the use our own natural resources (i.e. oil, natural gas, coal) rather than subsidize the mut...

Barry Bonds and Frank Thomas? May as well get Roger Clemens, too. How about Kobe Bryant,.....or O.J. Simpson,......they can probably hit a few out, too. Michael Vick may be ready in few years.

Sportsmanship,......or ignorance?
I am with Packerboy on this one. A great story would have been if she had hopped on one foot around the bases on her own. Unfortunate things happen to all in life. She hit it out of the park, and knows it, and should be proud, and get satisfaction for the accomplishment. But just because she hit it ...

Sure we WANT results, but...
Sure we want results, and these hitters are the best. However, just as the legion ball hitters are facing legion ball pitchers,......the professional hitters are facing professional pitchers. It isn't so easy to find a good pitch and drive it somewhere. Some at bats they don't even get a good pitch ...

Banter,...only banter. We enjoy the "nibbling".
Lets hope Boof can keep it close, tonight. He has been known to "nibble" in the past. Go after'em Boof.

he is no Sidney Ponson, but....
Livan out dueled a pretty good pitcher in Weaver,......and didn't throw it harder than 85 mph (some in the 60's mph). Tony Oliva was excited about the acquistion of Hernandez at Twinsfest. If you can't trust Tony O,.....who can you trust. PB,.....you don't get bonus points for a mutiple point win. 3...

Was it because St Cloud is in?
I was only able to see watch the 3rd period, but, was amazed at the lack of intensity (especially in a close game against the Gophers) by St Cloud. Even so they did tie the game. The penalty, nulified the little spark of momentum that was starting. Last night, St Cloud looked like the tired :? team....

Thanks Govs, for attempting to get us back on track. I didn't see the clip, nor do I know who it may have been. P.S. Neut seems to be obsessed with "W". We may find him to be a genius compared to any of the three upcoming choices. I thought the 70's economy was gone, but......we may get th...

Govs, you're right, the Humboldt Hawks had a string of Championships in the late 1990's and early 2000's. Like all sports, it goes in cycles depending upon the available talent, and of course the larger teams have more available talent. Next, I suppose, someone will get the bright idea to have multi...

Adapted Floor Hockey Tournament
I attended the 2008 Adapted State Floor Hockey Tournament this weekend at Jefferson HS. Just wanted to thank all that attended the Boy's Hockey tournament, as I am sure the adapted tournament is subsidized from that revenue. There is admission, program/souvenir sales, and concession stands, but sinc...

It is not an anology.
Auto insurance is no analogy, it is they way it is covered, and it works pretty well. If a similar system was used in health insurance it would be much more efficient. Sure there would be cases of tragedy for someone not going to the doctor because of $100 dollars, but.......it happens now, and alwa...

Isn't "across the board" more efficient?
I certainly don't have the qualifications to be a $200K /yr Superintendent. However, they are often compared to CEO's to justify their relatively high salary, in "public service". When private companies have cash flow problems. Do they usually eliminate complete departments,......or do the...

Pay for Play
Nothing is wrong with "pay for play",.....in fact the overwhelming majority of HS athletes (actually their parents) have been doing it since age 5 in youth sports. And it is what Brainerd will do. They will raise the money, or each pay their own way. If sports are dropped, the athletes wil...

Not a threat? Do the "decision makers" have athletes,....or students in high school, for that matter? Say the money doesn't get raised,.....do you think the "decision makers" want the legacy of being a part of the group that eliminated many high school sports in Brainerd? I am no...
