Re: Eveleth

I see Eveleth suffered a humiliating loss to I-Falls 16-0. they should do what Greenway did and pull out of the IRC. I thought we were bad when I played, losing to #1 Grand Rapids 5-2 in the early 80s. Eveleth has 11 returning players this year, mostly juniors. There could be some light at the end ...

Hibbing vs Marshall

Golden Bear 10: You didn't happen to play with any Peterlins did you? They Might have been some years before me. I played with Dave Cossalter, Geg Hyppa and Mike Carr in goal (1981). Grand Rapids was the top team in the conference followed by a very good Hibbing team which we only lost something li...

Re: The IRC: Virginia at Eveleth

Just posting a video interview and some photos from the Virginia pasting of Eveleth, 9-0. Looks like the Blue Devils are going to make some noise in the IRC this winter, especially after beating Rapids earlier this season. http://www.mnsportspreview.com/TimKolehmainen/hockey-virginia-eveleth.htm ht...

Hibbing vs Marshall

The reason why Hibbing's record is about .500 since 2000 is because they play alot of AA teams. If they had Eveleth's schedule, their record would be about 22-3, and Jamnik would lead the state in scoring. I don't Hibbing has ever had a 5 win season. They beat I-Falls 7-1 and Marshall 6-2, but got b...

I think Hibbing should go back to AA. Single A is too easy for them. They Have the numbers and talent to compete with the large schools. :)

E-G Golden Bears 08-09

Last year they had a record of 6-21 and lost eight seniors. I think Jesse Schilling should be pretty decent in nets. Eric Moe and Gian Mariucci will probably lead the Bears in scoring.
Eveleth's Bantam A Team Team last year, had three wins, so their future does not look too promising.

I have a book written by Bruce Engel, that has every stat from teams on the Iron range that goes back to 1972. I can give you as much information that you might want. It is a limited edition i purchased in 1988 at an Eveleth Varsity game.

Hibbing What Happened?

Hibbing only lost to Duluth East 5-4 in 2004 and 2005. They beat Moorhead 3-0 in 2004 and lost to Moorhead 3-1 in 2005. I don't see Hibbings Bantams ranked anymore. When I drove through hibbing a couple of years ago, there were still alot of kids on the rinks. though the population is still about th...

Marriucci, Loe, Spragg, and Hendrickson Those would be some of their top players this year. Hopefully they will be back soon. I watched Eveleth Gilbert play Minneapolis West in a JV. Tournament a couple of years ago, and David Spragg got 5 goals and an assist in a 13-5 win. Gian Mariucci will proba...

E-G/M.E. were also missing 4 players due to injury or suspension. They looked like they should frustrate some teams this year. Who is missing ?

I know Terry Pernu that played for Eveleth in the early 80's was a very good hockey player, small, but scrappy.

I would have to say Rick Royal, the most underated goaltender from Greenway, He always come up big when he had to. :)

Eveleth Gilbert Golden Bears

Eveleth will be hosting another tourney this year. I think its the same teams that were there last year: Monticello, North Metro, Waseca, Hudson WI. Eveleth will also play Lake of the Woods in the OUTDOOR Baudette Bay Classic Feb. 9th should be a nice cold game to get them motivated! The only Evelet...

Eveleth Gilbert Golden Bears

Stoks, Grivette, and Mausolf were from the Mesabi East program. the reason why these players transfered is because they thought that they would have a better chance of making it to state, and to get noticed by a division 1 college.

Eveleth Gilbert Golden Bears

From what I know, Todd Kreibich is a Crookston native and a former standout goaltender for Bemidji State in the early 90s. Eveleth will be bringing up almost their whole JV team this year. If I remember right these were the same players from a pretty solid Bantam B team from a few years ago. They lo...

7A next year ?

I was back home last weekend and some folks in the Virginia area said that Nico Might! play juniors this year but they weren't positively sure. If he does go, i think half of Virginia's offense would be gone also. I saw in the Star Trib yesterday, that he was drafted 50th overall by Dallas. Virginia...

7A next year

Did Hermantown go back to 2A? If not, 7A will be one of the best sections in the state. I think Hibbing & Duluth Marshall will be the top teams. I-Falls & Greenway could be sleepers. Virginia probably won't be as good without Sacchetti, and lost a real good defenseman in Scott Kishel. Evelet...

Hibbing @ Eveleth

Eveleth will get dominated. They have some good players, but Hibbing will be too much for them on this night, regardless off how Eveleth did up in the Falls. I think Eveleth and I-Falls are evenly matched, line for line. I thought even though Eveleth got beat 6-0 in the first meeting, Brady Hjelle ...

Hibbing @ Eveleth

One score I had to recheck, In 1983 Eveleth-5 Hibbing-4 Craig Mattson with the winning goal. Hibbing Just has to much depth.
Eveleth will need to get some great goaltending from P.J. Gornick to even come close in this one. :)

Here is an interesting statistic!
Eveleth has beaten Hibbing twice and tied once in the past twenty four years.

1983-Eveleth 4 Hibbing 3
1998-Eveleth 4 Hibbing 2
2001-Eveleth 3 Hibbing 3

prediction: Hibbing 8 Eveleth Gilbert M/E 1

Eveleth @ I-Falls

Eveleth has always played well at Bronco Arena, but I will go with the Falls 4-2. Eveleth will probably only win five games this year. The Falls could reach the section finals this year because of the great goaltending of Brady Hjelle. I don't know what the future holds for Eveleths Hockey program, ...

I-Falls @ Hibbing

Brady Hjelle has played well for the Broncos this year. So far he has faced 189 shots in 6 games with a GAA of 2.33, and should make this game interesting, but I'm going with Hibbing 3-2 because its at the Memorial Arena.
