Might depend on who's involved with coaching/helping in your area, but my kids have gotten a lot out of the "youth" STP clinics in GR.

Thank you Woody22 for understanding the fact that I was not trying to "eliminate" the northern associations. However, it is a fact that the numbers do play a huge roll in the outcome of a teams success. Maybe the question should of been worded (or qualified) differently so to give credit ...

no you have to be asked they take kids that they've scouted from the draft lists and invite them Actually, I went on to the USHL website and looked. 92's CAN be registered and do not necessarily need an invite. If this link works, this will show you: If not, I'll try a different way. https://notes....

I just have a question - are the juniors who played JV all season "guaranteed" a spot as seniors or could they get beat out by someone?
Just seems like if they are juniors playing strictly JV, they might not have as much talent as someone else.

Re: 1992

Cornermukker wrote:So if I understand this correctly, there could possibly be some 14 year olds that have late 1992 birthdays trying out. so they would be young, birthwise.

Any 1992 birth year players. A few have turned 15 before the tryouts, alot will have not yet being that the initial tryouts are next week.

I'm not sure if they are all trying out, but if they do I would say from GR - Skrbec, Kleinendorst, Moore, Merritt, How & Schulte.

Re: Two Cents

I normally don't speak up too much on this stuff, but lets stop the crying up north. Unfortunatly in the past years the births to state were not handed out to the teams that deserved to go. That includes the 3 spots from the north. In the past it was 3 Northern teams, 1 southern/western team and 4 ...

Run it like they did the VFW districts. District 8 was a 9 team double elim format. You may end up playing more games that way(GR played 7 in 4 days)but you end up with a true winner, and a true second. Bemidji is fortunate to be going to VFW state. They placed 2nd in the tourney, but advanced beca...

Both Duluth East and Centennial are beatable.... We should know.... Elk River took Centennial into overtime in the district finials... Elk River took DE into two overtimes in a game that could have gone either way....if it did then we won't even be discussing East... Relax and enjoy the season, it ...

Bemidji player injured in the Brainerd game was on skates (no gear or neck brace) at practice last night. Still sore (neck ligaments???) but likely for state :D . We have a good hockey community up here in the North Region and I am sure he appreciates everyone’s concern and good wishes... Thank you...

I believe they're in Grand Rapids, but I haven't heard when. Probably the last half of March. I think they need to be "completed" by the first part of April.

This format is the same format that has been used for 15 years or more in northern MN. Three games to get you to Sunday, and then you have to win. Fair, I don't know about fair, but obviously Bemidji played better than Moorhead and this was their first shot at them over the weekend. The reason is t...

Good games going on over in Virginia. Classic battle between Brainerd and Bemidji earlier was probably the game of the day. Bemidji dug deep and pulled it out in the end with two late goals. Hope the Bemidji player who was injured is okay. Any word? He was run with about 20 sec left in the game and...

I would doubt those 3 are in a motel. Look at a map. Doesn't really matter like I said the 2 winners will come from the top 6 teams. GR, V, H all have much less travel time than the rest. Wow, totally my bad. Was thinking of VFW districts in I. Falls this weekend and talking about Regions. Dumb of ...

As I see it the Region is wide open with at least 6 teams with equal chances for 2 spots. As in any playoff it depends what team shows up. The "home" [ GR, V, H ] teams will have a slim advantage of not traveling. I think the 2 teams at state will be in the running for a good showing. I a...

Yes, Rapids' goalie was on again, but I disagree that Virginia outplayed them. Rapids had one off period, but otherwise controlled the game.

Anyway, check out the score.
