Anyone who has been at the tourney with an opinion on how the Central Minnesota Teams are looking? Little Falls (Festler is there...really?) puckshtopshere1, I agree with you for the most part also. I don't like the kids leaving early either...but hockey is what it is and no one can figure out how to keep the standout players in high school. With that said, my point to you was I agree that the 'program' several kids are in assist in maki...

I have always believed in the "it takes a village" philosophy....until it comes to entering the next level of hockey. This sport is a village all its own in a multitude of ways. I can think of athletes who would have had real chances at moving forward in their careers because they had what...

Congratulations to Jared on a decision made. While I may not like the way hockey forces athletes into these decisions, since it exists and we can't seem to find a way around it, then I think this move is the best move Jared could have made. He leaves his high school career with many honors and seems...

Any info on other teams there? With Alex and Fergus ending up in Championship, who were the other teams? Scores? Analysis? Was Peck there for FF? Was it a goaltending issue in the LF vs. Alex game? Or just an off day for the big guns of LF? The 'to be' Junior tender for Alexandria should do well for...

It's correct that all of the top high school eligible goalies in the state get invited to this camp, however many decline for varying reasons, thus the openings available for others they include on their invitation list. More recently the camp has stepped up to bringing in more 'today' coaching staf...

I believe the Elite League's mission has become diluted. I do not want to give anyone the sense that Russo and company did not have a good plan, because they did and the poster who said they are to be commended is correct. But it has not been able to keep kids in high school hockey as much as we all...

What baseball has to do with this is the fact Jared likely won't leave to play with Lincoln for the rest of this school year ( though I am sure they would like him added to their roster now rather than later). But I believe he, like many in his position, will make up his mind about next year after t...

Brighton, I did not say that the Flyers saw some strong defensive teams this year...I said they saw some very good goaltending. There is a difference. You get Festler or Ben Hanowski on a break away and they are tough to stop, but I did see them stopped by some very good goaltending this year. I saw...

Warriors07, I would agree with you. This is a tough draw for BOTH teams. Hermantown and LF have seen each other in a scrimmage setting only. Despite what some posters on this board believe, Festler and Company have been up against some very good goaltending over this year and have managed to score. ...

MVP, true enough. Difference is DM was the favorite last year and is the favorite this year to take all. SCC was not and is not the favorite. Suppose that could work either way for SCC, but DM is still the deeper, more talented team and would be a stronger representative for 2A, IMO.

I disagree, to an extent, with the poster who stated whoever wins this contest on Saturday will be the state champ. If DM wins, winner takes all. If SCC wins, the 2A showing at state will be short lived. DM will be on a mission if they get to state this year after losing a title last year that was t...

Little Falls is a very fast team who can take advantage of and draw penalties from the other team. Their opponents find themselves hooking and grabbing all the way to the box. This allows more time for Festler and company to be on the ice, which obviously is not what their opponents need. LF top lin...

Size in D1 hockey is not always a factor...look at St. Cloud State. Bobby Goepfert is 5'8" (giving him the benefit of the doubt) and maybe weighs 160 pounds soaking wet. The poster who said there are no D1 offers to the goalies on the list I believe is correct. One rarely hears of a goaltender ...

George, let me make one thing very clear to you since apparently I have been choosing my words too carefully. SCC has thrown their share of attitude on the ice at the officials and I think the ref who called this on Hess wanted to take control immediately. Hess is NOT known for his silence. Crandall...

Bluegoose, I think many hockey fans don't realize the limits the refs are taken to on the ice with players. Bluegoose, can't blame the ref for putting a player in the box who simply took his complaining too far....nobody to blame on that but Hess. The refs at the Mac do tend to favor their Crusaders, but I think Marshall will win. They are more effective in every aspect of their game than Cathedral right ...
