I wouldnt focus on a "team" to get him on. I would focus on the players areas of weakness. Spend your money in those areas, encourage some of his friends of like ability to play a spring or fall league and then sign him up for baseball. Trust me, I know, been there - done that and made lot...

gender equality

Just wondering what people think of the fact that girls are not forced to play on girls teams even though one is offered at their level. Should they play with boys using any reason they chose. How does it hurt girls programs if they arent loyal to their program, the one they hardly had to fight for ...

Someone needs to get this thing going so I'll put in my 2 cents worth. St Olaf swept St Johns and Gustavus the past two weekends, too early to tell if this is a trend to come but thought it was worth noting since someone put them behind those teams.

As a district board member, we've been trying for the past 3 years to get to the Lucia/Blatherwick.... approach to the younger age levels. Most of what I see are the parents forcing their local associations to do the opposite. I think I've seen/heard it all and then another season starts with too ma...

Looking back on those early days I have realized how much this sport has taught me. As typical I started out like everyone else, thought I knew everything, my complaints about refs, board members........ Then I got involved, board member, district member, and now that my boys are grown up ( 1 still ...

It all starts with the district director, chaska association board, potential chan board. You will only "get involved" if you are a part of that group. The rest of the members are usually asked to vote on a split. You should read the MN hockey and USA hockey handbooks to understand the rul...

Up in the North we have a problem with develpoing baseball players VS kids from the south. The weather is the culprit getting kids to play ball year round. So we may have the advantage with hockey, but baseball lags behind. Either way just let him go where he wants, guide him from a short distance b...

MNH Old Cronnies...

The comment about the old cronnies (VP') who dont know what's going on.... I believe the DD's should have more power, the upper positions should administer what the DD's need for their district and whats best for all districts. Do we need a new President? Is Jorgenson not the right type of person ( ...

D3

Many good observations given here. My opinion - D3 is for education first, (in most of this area schools) religion may have something to do with it and of course a very competitive league to play in. Most teams have a line who could "play" with D1 but would need to prepare for it. Several ...

As a parent with kids too old to play youth hockey anymore I'll say this, AAA is only a feel good for parents. Yes some teams are very good and many kids do become better because of the coaching and competition. I help out with the Mn Knights teams, we are strictly a low level AAA team, more likely ...

D8scout, Do you really think Colleen has done that bad a job that she should resign? My dealings with her are always positive, whether we agree or not. I can talk to her about anything in the scyha. She is open minded and always has the best interest in mind for the players. If you've had problems t...

crisco36 If as you mentioned that you moved up because of having two A teams, then I'll assume you're about 16 years old. Now I'm not trying to insult your inteligence, but what do you at this age really know about running a hockey association? Are you influenced by listening to adults complain, whe...

Those that think the st cloud hockey board is a joke should spend some time with them and see everything they do right. No, I'm not from st cloud, but know many of them over the years. Last year was a mistake with 2 bantam a teams, but it was only because so many players left. HS coaches should neve...

We have too many traveling teams, we go to too many out of town tournaments, we expect too much out of the younger kids................ There are a lot of ideas to keep cost's down but the " my kid is a stud for his/her team " from parents living through their kids prevents the local assoc...

Didnt the Fire register as tier II this season? And why do we really care who or where they play. If those parents are nuts enough to travel and spend the money let em, when they dont play D1 or even in the nahl they can look back and see where it got them.
