How To Get More Kids Involved In Youth Hockey?

We have too many traveling teams, we go to too many out of town tournaments, we expect too much out of the younger kids................ There are a lot of ideas to keep cost's down but the " my kid is a stud for his/her team " from parents living through their kids prevents the local associations & districts from doing what's right. Unless we (state of hockey) can get control of this stupidity it wont get any better, just worse.
