Re: Janne Kivihalme Out at Lakeville South
This has been a decade+ problem in Lakeville. North did the exact same things.....if you can’t beat ‘em join ‘em.....it isn’t just a hockey problem either. This is a district that runs out coaches like no other in the state. I have said this before and I think it bears repeating.......I really have ...

Re: Janne Kivihalme Out at Lakeville South
One bone to pick here. Both Lakeville schools have NOT been dirty for ten years. Fact is Lakeville South was decimated by St. Thomas ten years ago and nobody transferred in to play for coach Weber. You could make a real good argument south would have contended for the state title in 2010-2011, would...

Re: Early Departures 2018-19
Found a great site for tracking performance by Minnesotans in the dub, quanthockey.com. Each kids situation is uniquely their own and it’s unfair to judge their decisions from afar but success has been tough to come by for most. Big Buff, Tyler Pitlick and Peter Mueller appear to have had the most s...

As I posted earlier the selection process isn’t perfect but unfortunately whether it’s elite league, selects, or hp/USA the process will always be subjective. I’ve witnessed some real head scratchers as both a coach and a parent over the years. The important thing is to always remember if a kid can ...

Wow, that is pretty bitter! My experience has been most of the kids that should be there are and for the most part the best of these rise to the top of the stat sheet. It certainly isn’t perfect but having been part of the staff some of the assertions being made here are laughable. Do some kids mayb...

I tend to agree with his entire post......except, I think it’s a stretch to consider the USHL the equal of Canadian Major junior. Just so much really high end talent in O,W and Q. I believe most hockey experts would rank the CHL the second best amateur league in North America. NCAA is at the top jus...

In no way am I questioning the legitimacy of the WHL, it’s a great training ground for young hockey players and a quick check of NHL rosters surely proves it. But make no mistake it’s the Canadian model for development and it comes with its own set of pitfalls. It exists almost solely to develop pla...

I’m with you slap, prior to this year it’s my belief that the performance of the Big10 was the result of some fairly rare things all happening simultaneously. I guess only time will tell but I expect them to be very competitive pretty much every year. Will they have 3 teams at the frozen Four? Not l...

Maybe I’m not most people! Best college team I ever watched was the Sioux team with Frattin, they didn’t win it! You need to understand the best team in the country rarely wins the national title! Duncan toews, paresi couldn’t get it done either. In the one and done all bets are off, how often does ...

So league champions ships don’t count, first time I heard that , thank you! It’s simply too small a sample size. Was there a bit of a down turn the first couple years of the big 10? I think the answer to that is clearly yes. That’s over. Michigan has righted the ship, Wisconsin is building a power h...

Spot on Schotzy ! Now for clairifaction, 2102/13 U of M shared the title with St. Cloud. The Sioux finished just 2 points back and the U was a 1 seed and was upset by Yale. Yale went on a historic run which just goes to show that the ECAC is also a good conference. As for Minnesota fans saying we ge...

Hilarious! It’s just more of the same BS! If I’m not mistaken the U was league champ the last time they were in what is now the NACHO. UND is a storied program that ranks at or near the top of all college programs....so Is Denver....but so is Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. Is there some sort of ...

So we’ve made it from Mason Nevers to the NACHO is the best conference, that’s a hell of a journey. As for strength of conferences it might surprise people to know just how close they all are! The computer spit out 4 of 6 ...if not for an amazing run of dominos it would have been 5...into the tourna...

Over the years I’ve seen some real head scratchers, if the Lakeville kid really did bail for the W this one is as nuts as it gets. We’ve seen some really talented kids head their and struggle, how does a kid with 12 points in 50 games choose or be convinced to tackle a level of hockey that much more...

I'll post this here, seems to be closest to the topic. As I watched the Wild tonight it occurred to me that both Charlie Lindgren and Mike Rielly were playing. Both these kids were cut by their AAA team after 8th grade. Then it occurred to me that Mario Lucia and Justin Kloos gut cut as well. Seems ...

The Dub is a better league than the USHL but inferior to NCAA div 1 if for no other reason than the age of the players. My only concern on the education package is that after a kid ages out if he signs a pro contract the educational package basically disappears. Tough to ask a 21 year old to quit pl...

Ya, us old timers don't get this whole celly thing. It was the first thing that popped in my head. To be fair, we've been seeing this for years and I certainly don't blame the kid because even at the youth level you see some crazy stuff after goals. The kid from Northfield did the bazooka thing yest...

Tough one for north! The question now is what happens down the road, the cupboard is pretty empty at the bantam level for north so they'll need to double their efforts in player acquisition in the next couple years if they want to be a significant player in the state. As for the game, much like 2011...
