New Coach
Thief River Falls has a new coach. The following is from KROX radio out of Crookston. www.kroxam.com Thief River native Corey Poole is returning to his hometown to take over coaching duties in girls hockey and softball. Poole has coached the past seven years at Sauk Centre and Detroit Lakes (was hea...

body contact
The only way things will ever change is if penalties are called when penalties occur. Time of the game should have nothing to do with it. If an official is going to call something at the start they better call it at the end. The NHL is doing that now and although it took a while for the players to f...

Body Contact
I teach my girls that girls hockey is a lot like basketball. You have to beat people to spots on the rink. If you win the race to the puck then you are the one being checked. If you are playing defense and you have someone skate into you, you should be fine if you beat them to the spot they want to ...

Re: Chicago Showcase Results
It isn't always called head contact. In the girls game most refs would probably just call it checking. Could also be roughing or elbowing but any contact to the head is supposed to be called.

So why can small towns outside the metro field Varsity, J.V., 14U, and have plenty of numbers to do it.

I understand that the cost is higher to play in the cities, but so is income, and the number of kids who can afford to play.

The only reason I called it a disgrace is because I'm g...

Re: Warroad schuttlebutt
Probably not good. They are cutting many teachers and programs due to declining enrollment so that hiring someone new to come in to teach and coach is probably not possible.

Exactly, It's not cheap but if you want to play at the next level and haven't been spotted yet this is an investment.

With as many kids as we have playing the game, and all of the new womens programs out there. Doesn't the boys Chicago Showcase send a team of Seniors who aren't going to a division one school. I have to disagree with whether or not college coaches know about what a kid does off the ice.

If you are going to be bringing in a kid to represent an institute of higher learning, and to represent yourself you are going to find out what type of kid they are. Re: You just don't get it
Hockeyparent reminds me of a parent I had a couple of years ago. Single mother with one daughter. She thought her daughter was the second coming of Natalie Darwitz. And in reality she couldn't catch a pass, couldn't give a pass, couldn't shoot, even had a hard time skating. But it was all the coache...

Re: New Class A 8-Sections
There is no way Roseau and Warroad will be in the same section as Silver Bay. That is like a 6 hour drive across the state. One of the big arguments to go to 8 sections is to get away from trips like that. The sections will probably look pretty close to the boys.

Boys Class 8A
Lake of the ...
