This was one of the best years for goalies out of our state. Congrats to all. Too bad the D1 schools only took 2. (Maybe 3 if Kassa goes to Wisconsin) Not a good year for D1 openings for goalies. A total of five Minnesota goalies are going: Altmann, Grogan, Kaasa, and two Throughbreds (if they coun...

haha... Somebody's gotta stick up for the little guy.

Kaasa sometimes is overlooked, but she'll be alright without an award or two. Hope she is able to succeed at the next level, it'll be fun to watch her and the other players develop these next few years.

What a joke? Danielle Justice on the second team and the goalie from the 1st team not even at the big show. Shows you what the press knows You cannot base an ALL-STATE list on who made it to the state tournament! That would leave you with 16 teams to pick players from and just completely shutout ev...

this list is bogus... wow.. haha unbelieveable!!!!!!!! The first team seems accurate. Except for I think Justice or Grogan deserve the top goalie spots on these teams. The second team is ridiculous. How do they figure that Dold and the MW girl are on the second team? What about Wheelhouse, Williams...

Herb Brooks Award Winners

I was just wondering who the AA winner was. I was unable to catch it on TV tonight.

Congratulations to Ashley Holmes of Alex with the A award.

D-1 Schools have to look at more than NDP, because otherwise Nikki Kaasa wouldn't be playing for Mark Johnson and the Badgers next season. Kaasa only made it past Phase I once out of the three years she tried out. Also, if they only look at NDP, why do the coaches show up to events like Junior Fest ...

Well, I guess we'll have to see when the paper releases the finalists! haha. I can't give you my opinion on Grogan because I don't have one, Boblee, but then again, not like it would matter because I'm not a voter. haha

I'm not one to say Grogan does or doesn't deserve the award, because I haven't seen her play enough to entitle myself to that opinion. But I don't think the fact she was on team USA should be the sole factor for voters to base their decisions on.

While stats may SOMETIMES be misleading, sometimes they are not. Go and watch kids like Kaasa, Lenz, and Hunter. The shots they face aren't usually a joke, and having to stop 40-50 night after night, with no games off to rest, for 4 months straight is quite a task for anyone. The kids get exhausted,...

Well, I guess if you say Kaasa got lucky with some of the scrambles in front of her net, then so did Justice... I'll give it a rest as long as you stop saying such arrogant statements. And give Kaasa some credit, 96 saves out of 99 shots between both games isn't lucky with that much repetition. That...

Sorry, I was just under the impression a team like Alex would not have a problem with a team like Tech. "No offense" as GoCards would say.

I understand where you are coming from... I was only trying to show that there are some good goalies out there other than the usual Grogan, Altman, Justice, etc... Just to show Kaasa can play in all situations then: Examples of games where team dominated: Little Falls, 14 shots, 0 goals. Sartell-Sau...

Kaasa had a shutout streak of three games, a total of 86 shots. Game vs. Alex, 53 shots, 52 saves. Kaasa also doesn't get streaks of games were she just gets 10-15 shots. Three games TOTAL this season where she has only had less than 20 shots.

Ontheroad... Seriously, Boblee said he was basing his opinion off of one game and that he could be entirely wrong. People are entitled to their opinions, so let him have his. Also, you have to look at strength of schedule. Yes, Alex has 2 D1 players in the mix, one of them being a forward, FYI, but ...
